YOUR CLASS HAS LISTENED TO A PANEL DISCUSSION ABOUT THE REASONS FOR

LEARNING ENGLISH IN THE MODERN WORLD.

SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL, PEOPLE HAVE FELT THE NEED FOR SHARING A
COMMON LANGUAGE TO COMMUNICATE WITH EITHER FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES
OR FOR ITHE EXCHANGE OF DEAS AND OPINIONS; AFTER THE FALL OF THE ROMAN
EMPIRE WHERE LATIN WAS USED AS THE LANGUAGE OF COMMUNICATION, OTHER
LANGUAGES WERE USED AS A LINGUA FRANCA, MAINLY ITALIAN, OR FRENCH, BUT
NOT UNTIL THE ADVENT OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE DID ENGLISH BECOME A LANGUAGE
OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE ,NAMELY USED FOR COMMUNICATIVE PURPOSES.
WHEN ASKING THE STUDENTS ABOUT THE REASONS FOR LEARNING ENGLISH
IN THE 21ST CENTURY, THE ANSWERS WERE VARIED AND DISTINCT. WHILE SOME
PUPILS MAKE THE CASE FOR INCREASING WORK OPPORTUNITIES CEMENTED ON THE
IDEA THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF OVERSEAS ENTERPRISES DO BUSINESS IN ENGLISH,
OTHER STUDENTS, HANKERING FOR ASPIRATIONAL UNIVERSITY DEGREES, ASSUME
THE FACT THAT MOST RESEARCH STUDIES ARE WRITTEN IN ENGLISH, CONSEQUENTLY
AN I-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF NGLISH IS QUITE HELPFUL WHEN IT COMES TO STUDYING
AND BROADENING YOUR KNOW-HOW-TO THERE WAS A CONSENSUS ABOUT THE IDEA
OF THE USEFULNESS OF SPEAKING ENGLISH WHEN TRAVELLING SINCE IF YOU ARE
FLUENT IN ENGLISH ORAL EXPRESSION, IT IS PLAUSIBLE THAT TRAVELLING BECOMES A
SMOOTH AND ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE.
IN CONCLUSION, ALL THE STUDENTS ARE ON THE SAME PAGE WHEN
CONSIDERING THE BENEFITS THAT SPEAKING ENGLISH CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR
LIVES AS INDIVIDUALS IN TERMS OF STUDIES, JOURNEYS AND PROSPECTIVE JOBS.
The main problem with the report is the lack of headings – you would usually have a
title, introduction, two main points and a conclusion. Having said that, I’m in
Cambridge mode and perhaps it doesn’t matter for your exam. 16/20
