REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE/SYSTEMS

This Chapter will present some relevant literature and studies gathered by the

proponents related to the system called Online based solution for tutor booking

system utilizing SMS notification (tutors on the go) to further enrich the

conceptualization of the study. The review of different related literature and studies

discuss the importance and difference of using SMS notification to notify the clients

and also the advantages of online booking and reservation system.

Education can become transformative when teachers and students

synthesize information across subjects and experiences, critically weigh significantly

different perspectives, and incorporate various inquiries. Educators are able to

construct such possibilities by fostering critical learning spaces, in which students are

encouraged to increase their capacities of analysis, imagination, critical synthesis,

creative expression, self-awareness, and intentionality. Tutorial is classified into two

kinds, they are: face-to-face tutorial and electronic tutorial. Face-to-face tutorial is a

meeting between the students and the tutor in a closed or an open room. Electronic

tutorial should use supporting media in order that learning between the students and

tutor runs well. The electronic tutorial utilizes technological and electronical

advances, such as radio, television, compact disc, Website, and others. It is caused

by the distance education that gives the public easier access to studying in the

university, as stated by Belawati (2010), “Open education or open learning is a vision

of an educational system accessible to every individual with minimal restrictions”. A

tutor plays an important role in the success of an online tutorial. The tutors’ role

include the design and the implementation of the online tutorial. The role in the

design is a tutor’s creativity in making initiation’s materials, choosing discussion

sentences that are interesting and match the needs and the distribution of

assignments with the clear explanation. As an instructor, they focus on the

experiences that would best generate learning from the learner's point of view, rather

than just publishing and assessing the information they think they need to know.

Each participant in a course can and should be a teacher as well as a learner. Their

job changes from being the sole source of knowledge, to being a guide and role

model. They connect with students in ways that address their own learning needs by

moderating discussions and activities in a way that collectively leads students

towards the larger learning goals of the class. On the other hand, according to the

tutor, a tutor plays both as a trigger and motivator in the students’ learning process.

The use of mobile phones are indeed renowned to our days. Some people

can tell that having a mobile phone is unavoidable. They considered it as a need.

The world market furnish different varieties of mobile phones that both affluent and

second-rate people can afford and use. Mobile phones play a vital role to people’s

life. It can be used as entertainment and mostly to communicate using SMS

notification, calls, chats and video conference. Therefore we conclude that peak of

mobile phones are on its demand.

According to Oludare Olaleye, Olalekan Eboda & Adeleke Awolere, (2013)

Mobile text messages are an excellent aid for communication when there is a need to

submit information also at long distances or without well working communication

system or infrastructure, or when the people cannot physically meet the staff that is

concerned, provided that the cost of the text message is very low and it is available

to practically everyone. Moreover based on the study of Rala, (2014) et,al Online

Dental reservation with SMS Notification will give opportunity to those who are dentist

to encourage more customers and earn more profit, the client can set an

appointment without hesitation and most important is the assurance that they have

appointment for that day by sending a SMS notification for confirmation.. Additionally

2000s in Europe and some parts of Asia when businesses started to collect mobile

phone numbers and send off wanted (or unwanted) content. The past decade has

witnessed a revolution in the use of ICT in Developing countries.” Nevertheless,

Philippines are crowd-pleasing place for SMS usage.

Booking and reservation especially to Cities are ubiquitous. People wants to

settle stuffs at first, like booking of places to accommodate them before the

designated time for it, they lay restaurants in advance, so that when they get there,

everything is set. In addition booking of flights and hotels is also corking method. This

related studies will show us how booking and reservation in important to our lives.

Omar Abdullah M. Al-Maktari, Rozinah Jamaluddin & Al-Samarraie Hosam,

(2012) The online booking system for the meeting and seminar halls will provide

flexible and sustainable services for saving time and emulate mistakes. From the

other hands, users are looking for an interactive and easy way to communicate and

do their jobs via internet. The usefulness of the providing such a reservation services

is to help administration staffs in their daily work by making their reservation up to

schedule, connected, and generating reports easily. Furthermore based on the study

of Jill Lambert, Judith Andrews & John McMullan, (2014) s the implementation of a

public reservation service in a multi-site academic library where the practical issues

involved in the implementation of a public reservation services using BLS (BLCMP

Library System) in a large multi-site university library (University of Central England

In Birmingham) service are examined. The options enabling the system to be

customize are outlined, and the reasoning underlying specific decisions is explained.

When it comes to reservation of facilities on the study of Abi, (2010), in

his/her “Online Reservation System, short-term base lodging is the main reason that

a hotel has been established. In the Philippines, wherein many foreign people go and

have a vacation, hotel is always their first destination to have relaxation after a long

hours of travel”. Likewise according to Mary Grace R. Canlas et al. (2012) in their

Resort and Functional Hall, The application of modern information technology

dominated so far by the use of internet websites and online reservation systems,

gives competitive advantage to other with the same establishment.

You Ni & Su, (2017) said that, with the increasing popularity of smart phones,

Parking Reservation System (PRS) become practical to reduce the travel time in

cruising for vacant spaces. The aim this study is to assess the impact of PRS

explicitly.

Indeed, the advent of new technology gave rise and hassle-free interaction

between and among humans. Online based solution for tutor booking system utilizing

SMS notification (tutors on the go) inarguably helps the clients who will be using it.

Documentation of Existence and Seriousness of the Problem

Parents in Virac, Catanduanes are used to find tutors through manual

arrangements. This may help them to find tutor for their children. However, the

accuracy of the information they will gather are more likely in a low state, in addition

the list of the tutor they can choose are limited. It is also time consuming.

As shown in Figure 1, the parent will first ask to his or her friend and relatives

if they knew tutors near from their place, then the parent will look for the tutor. The

easiest way is through the use of Mobile phones, so parent will look for the tutors

mobile number or social media accounts. Thereafter, the parent will confirm if they

can meet up with the tutor to confirm his or her credentials. Later, they will meet up

and enclose the arrangements.
