OHS SchoolKit:
The Schoolkit describes your roles and responsibilities under the Alberta Health & Safety Act. It
follows the school year, breaking your tasks into six manageable sections. As a teacher, you are
responsible for knowing & adhering to the health and safety codes from the Alberta
government. “Each section introduces a task and then offers to-do lists and ready-made
messages to help you communicate the importance of occupational health and safety, along with
a commitment to make your schools and departments healthy and safe places to work. The
Schoolkit then provides suggestions about how to carry your health and safety program forward
after the first year. It also provides templates and sample forms for you to use.
