Actros Automatic Shift System
Actros Automatic Shift System
The Axone Motor Trucks auto-diagnostics program (page with hammer/screwdriver icon
at the top right) has functions for the basic configurations to be performed to correctly
repair the EPS automatic shift installed on Actros models. These functions are described
below.
Wear on clutch:
The parameter must be checked whenever the control unit is replaced and may be reset
manually. The parameter for vehicles with single-disk clutch (V6 engines) is 5373 mm.
The parameter for vehicles with double-disk clutch (V8 engines) is 4369 mm.
The correct value is automatically set by selecting the type of disk.
Max stroke for new clutch:
Before accessing this configuration, check the parameters page (icon with the unit of
measurement at the top right) for the "Max clutch travel", "Max clutch learning" and
make a note of the setting; - if the value displayed for the "Max clutch travel" setting is
zero, input the value you had noted for "Max clutch learning".
- if the clutch was replaced, always input the "Max clutch learning" value but do so only
after having performed the extended initialization procedure present on the same
regulations page;
- if the control unit was replaced, input the "Max clutch travel" value for the old control
unit after having performed the extended initialization procedure;
Current clutch wear:
Before accessing this configuration, check the "Clutch wear", "Clutch travel value"
settings on the parameters page (with the unit of measurement at the top right) and jot
them down;
procedure 1 - if the value displayed is zero, disengage the clutch and input the "Clutch
travel value" previously noted;
if the control unit was replaced, run the extended initialization procedure and input the
"Current clutch wear" value for the old control unit (this value is found on the same
settings page);
procedure 2 - if the control unit was replaced, run the extended initialization procedure
and input the "Clutch wear" parameter for the old control unit. If the control unit was not
replaced, input a setting of zero.
Distribution unit configuration:
This parameter allows you select the type of torque distributor. Warning: this value be
must reset after running the extended initialization procedure.
Yard function configuration:
This parameter makes it possible to start up the control unit functions for yard service.
this value be must reset after running the extended initialization procedure.
Configuration of the eliminated 'splitter' sensor:
This parameter indicates whether the splitter sensor is redundant. Currently this function
can only be performed on roadway vehicles which do not have EAS (automatic shift).
Configuration to adapt the rpm sensor to the tachograph:
This parameter makes it possible to adapt the GS control unit (clutch management) to the
rpm sensor for the tachograph. Select YES if the vehicle is configured in one of the
following ways:
- a modular MTCO tachograph is installed but without a Telma-Focal retarder
- a flat FTCO tachograph is installed together with a Telma-Focal retarder.
Select NO if the vehicle is configured in one of the following ways:
- a modular MTCO tachograph is installed with a Telma-Focal retarder
- a flat FTCO tachograph is installed but not a Telma-Focal retarder.
