The Poor Sanitation and Access to Clean water in some areas of

Brgy. Cabezas, Trece Martires City, Cavite

during the COVID 19 Pandemic.

Review of Related Literature

Lack of water and poor sanitation leading to water borne diseases is a major
problem affecting and killing millions of people in developing countries. Access to safe
drinking water has a great influence on health, economy and good life of the people.
The variation of water resources in the world is linked to climate change and population
growth. Pollution also has adverse effects on the quality of drinking water in the world.
Central African Republic is also facing this problem of having safe drinking water
because of poverty, war and poor technology. (Kamba, F., Sangija, F., & Wei, S. 2016.)

The management of water as a critical resource shall be done in a sustainable

manner taking into account the needs of the present and future generations. This is one
of the most critical issues confronting the country’s water sector, the lack of an
appropriate institutional framework to address issues of development and management
of water and related resources. Fragmented approach to water management brings
about an overlap of work and conflicts among agencies that result in fractional water
management plan that does not adequately meet the requirements for sustainability
(Barbara, P., 2005).
Objectives

“Safe drinking water and proper sanitation facilities are essential to health and
wellness in the communities. Safe water and sanitation is especially linked to young
children’s nutrition and ability to stay healthy and focused in school. Diseases caused
by unsafe or unhygienic practices decrease children’s chances to successful school
completion and healthy growth,” said UNICEF Philippines Representative Lotta
Sylwander.  The purpose of this study is to:

1. Assess the relevant literature on water sanitation and health

2. Assess water sanitation and health condition in the area given
3. Provide the public with information on good practices of water supply and
sanitation for sustainable and environmental management.
