92% on BS 2831 test dust No: 2. The Bag Filters shall have minimum efficiency of 99% on BS 2831 test
dust No: 2. the initial pressure drop across the filters shall not exceed w inch WG.

The fan static pressure shall be calculated by the supplier taking into account the resistance of supply and
return ducts, drops, across filters, attenuates, diffusers, fresh air grilles etc.,

All necessary electrical devices such as contractors, breakers, fuses, LV control transformers, etc., shall
be provided. The electrical components and wiring of the unit shall comply with the relevant IEC or BS
standards. All wiring shall be clearly identified. The unit control panel shall be designed to IP 44
protection class.

The AHU shall be provided with supply duct mounted temperature sensor and fan speed regulator. Each
regulator shall have facility for unit ON/OFF Auto condition and cycle control Auto/Manual/Fan with
set point control/Voltage free contacts from the fire alarm panel shall be wired, such that in case of fire
detection in apartments the FAHU's are tripped.

2.1 MATERIALS

A. Air Handling Units.

1. The units shall be provided as required for individual areas.

a. Units shall be complete with fans, motor, belt drive, belt guards,
filters, coils, and dampers.
b. Casings:
Air handling units shall be housed in a double skin casing constructed
of galvanised steel sheets (internal and external) not less than 1 mm in
thickness. The casing shall be painted or plasticised externally by the
AHU manufacturer at the factory prior to despatch. The cabinet shall

be adequately reinforced and stiffened with steel angles or other
structural members, and shall be provided with all necessary interior
panels, supports for equipment, access openings, and dampers. Casing
openings connected to ducts shall be equipped with removable angles
and bolts for attaching canvas or other flexible connections. All
interior surfaces of the casing shall be rendered rust resistant.
Removable panels in the casing shall provide easy access to all parts
for lubrication and servicing when unit is installed. The cabinet panels
shall be 50 mm thick with expanded foam, mineral wool or fibreglass
insulation sandwiched between the inner and outer skins. Fan casing
sections shall be provided with access doors. Access doors shall be
double skin, insulated, 50 mm thick with Plexiglass windows. Fan
sections on units with internally mounted motors shall be furnished
with a ceiling mounted vapour proof light fixture wired to an external
switch.
c. Each fan unit shall have an air capacity to be determined by the
Contractor in compliance with the design criteria and the safety factors

shall be determined by the Contractor to suit the air distribution system

a approval.
