Native Prototyping

1) Prototyping is a cornerstone of the design process that allows companies to test products with users before implementing them fully, in order to catch issues early and avoid costly changes later. 2) Native prototyping involves writing code to simulate interactions and test designs on real devices, helping validate ideas with users in realistic conditions. 3) While native prototypes are coded versions and not final products, they can be created quickly using real data and reused code to get valuable user feedback and improve communication between teams.

In today’s highly competitive market, business establishment need to discover new

innovations in order for the escalation of profitability margin. New techniques, methods and
tools have become increasingly important. Companies invest to new approach and design
winning over their competitors. And when it comes to new approach and design, there is one
activity that creates a foundation for future products, this is called prototyping.

Prototyping is a cornerstone of the design process. To develop a successful product, it’s

essential to take prototyping seriously and passionately. Establishing a strong prototype
according to the user’s needs is much cheaper than making changes in a system that has already
been implemented.

The need to take advantage of the tools that can make things easier to a company must be
adopted immediately. The method of prototyping can be used significantly in order to have a
profitable business. When it comes to prototyping, there are many different approaches
designers can choose from. In its basic form, a prototype is a simulation of a final product,
which is used for testing prior to launch. In the context of digital products, a prototype is a
simulation of the interaction between the user and the interface. Depending on what a product
team needs their prototype to do, it can simulate a single interaction or an entire application or
so. One of the types of prototyping which is very helpful to business establishments is the native
prototyping.

As discussed and defined in my readings, native prototyping requires writing some

coding, for example, writing an android application in Java or writing a web application in
HTML/CSS and java script. When creating a native prototype, you should build and test your
design ideas and as much as possible, with real data and real users. The native prototype ia a
closer product looking output which showcases the concept of the product with an interactive
interface. Native prototypes can be used as reference for refining and improving the product
even more. When you prototype natively, you write code and build a prototype to test on real
devices. Native prototyping has a goal of understanding how your product works in the real
world, it is often used to validate your idea with the real users.

While native prototypes often look like fully-functioning versions of a product, it is

important to remember that a coded prototype isn’t the same thing as a final product. You
should have a solid development skills if you are going to build native prototypes. Without good
development skills, creating a native prototype might take too long. You should be able to
prepare an effective prototype in just a few hours, rather than days or weeks. There many tips
discussed and mentioned to fully utilized native prototyping. To mention some are the following
tips; Use real devices and data. Since the goal of native prototyping is to understand how an
application will work in real world, you will need a realistic experience that you can out in the
hands of your users to collect valuable feedback. As much as possible, use real devices and real
data to validate your design decisions. Don’t worry if some of the parts of your prototype aren’t
functioning. If you use the prototype for user testing, make sure that people who interact with it
understand this it is just a prototype, not a final solution. Reuse code. It is recommended to
develop prototypes, when possible, with the intention of reusing code from the prototype in
finished product. While this may add additional costs at the prototyping stage, it should save
money over the life cycle of the products development.

Prototyping is not new, and people have been aware of the value and return on
investment of prototyping for millennia. However, prototyping rich, digital user experiences can
be challenging for UX professionals.

Often, companies tend to invest in exciting new ideas such as brainstorming, then
planning their design and implementation. But after launch, you might realize that what you
thought were brilliant designs failed to impress your users. This happens when the assumptions
on which you based your design solutions were wrong and can lead to substantial waste of time
and money.

Even when requirements and ideas are documented carefully it can always be
misinterpreted. A working prototype removes all the barriers of communication. A prototype
aids in both internal as well as external communication. In internal communication, a prototype
brings together both developers and designers to work on the same objective to start with.
Different departments use different jargons and have different protocols, whereas a prototype has
no standard protocols ad it brings out the creative part of all the teams involved. Both designers
and developers love to work on a prototype phase it is both fun and creative. It increases
communication and collaboration among teams. Whereas in external communication, a
prototype also helps in third-party communication during presentations to stakeholders. Well
defined wireframes and beautifully crafted mock ups may at sometimes confuse clients whereas
a prototype offers a real-life user experience and removes all grey areas in understanding. A
working prototype is a powerful tool for businesses when they pitch the idea to investors.

Where it is important to move ahead in businesses, one must all remember that still the
best way to make a company stable is to have good and quality product as the bottom line. We
can use and take advantage of technology but at the end of the day, proper utilization of
technology is what makes everything in place. The role of technology in business caused a
tremendous growth in trade and commerce. Business concepts and models were revolutionized
as a result of the introduction of technology. This is because technology gave a new and better
approach on how to go about with business. It provided a faster, more convenient, and more
efficient way of performing business transactions. Even calculator is a product of technology. It
is indeed unfathomable to summon the idea of going back to the days where everything was done
manually, which basically means starting all over again.
