-Basic economic problems and the Philippine socioeconomic development in the 21st century
CONTENT STANDARDS The learner demonstrates an understanding of economics as an applied science and its utility in addressing
the economic problems of the country.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS The learners shall be able to analyze and propose solution/s to the economic problems using the principles
of applied economics.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES The learners identify the basic economic problems of the country. (ABM_AE12-Ia-d-2)

TIME ALLOTMENT 4 hours

At the end of the lesson, the learners should have:

Go Beyond: Quote Review
a. Reviewing/Priming Activity
Present some quotes used from the last session about economics as a science which studies human behavior as a
relationship between ends and scarce means. Recap the insights about this quote.

Brain Warming: 4 Pics 1 Word
The class will be divided into six groups. Each group will give the appropriate or the exact answer of the projected
problem on screen. They will have to write their answers on a meta strip given to them. After writing their answers on a
meta strip the group will have to shout for their group name so that they will be acknowledged. The group being
acknowledged will have to show their answer to the class and wait for the teacher to The group with the highest number

Lastly the teacher will show photos of newspaper headlines. Let the learners analyze each picture.

those words? Why do you come up with such words or statement?
B. ANALYSIS
- Are these issues or problems relevant in our society nowadays? How can you say so?
-Are these related to economics? How can we say that economics is an applied science?

D. APPLICATION The teacher will give each group a manila paper to be used for this activity. The teacher will let the group to think for
any raw materials found in their locality. He will let them decide to get only three among the many options they had
think and brainstormed. The three raw materials they have decided will be used to fill in the chart given to them. After
10 minutes, each group will then report to the class their finished output.
DIAD Activity:
Each pair will work for the activity given by the teacher. Flashed on the screen are the lists of economic problems
arising in the Philippines. All they need to do is to select one and enumerate the things needed to be done to solve

drawing, or by writing an essay. After 10 minutes, the teacher will select 7 pairs of students to present their work in
front.

your limited resources (money, time, energy).

Given Php500.00 as your allowance for the whole week. How will you allocate your budget for your expenses for the
week?
