ST-4 Selected critical values for the chi-squared distribution
5
ST-5: Sample size tables – two-sample t-tests
The table is indexed by whether the test will be one or two-tailed, the significance level (α), the probability
of type II error (β) (the required power is (1- β)) and the ratio D=(µ1–µ2)/σ = Δ/σ. For example, for a two-
tailed test with a significance level of 0.05 and a β value of 0.1, the sample size (in each group) will be 23,
for a D value of 1.0.

The table is indexed by whether the test will be one or two-tailed, the significance level (α), the probability

ST-6 Critical values for the Studentised range distribution
The table is indexed by the family significance level (α), the number of means to be compared
and the degrees of freedom of the s2=MSE that appears in the standard error of the difference
between a pair of means that forms part of the HSD expression.
