Reflection: Mode of Revealing

1. How is technology a mode of revealing?

Heidegger urged people to envision technology as a mode of revealing as it shows so much


more about the human person and the world. Technology is a way of bringing forth and making
something. By considering technology as a mode of revealing, then the truth is brought forth.
For instance, the truth the earth is weeping could be revealed by the information and data
taken by modern devices. Whatever truth is uncovered, it will be something more meaningful
and significant than the superficial or practical use of technology.

Technology should be used to unveil or to reveal what is correct or true, which is more
meaningful than its practical uses.

2. In your daily experience of technology, what else is revealed to you aside from its function?

We all use technology on a daily basis and certain things are revealed to us as we enjoy its
seemingly infinite number functions. First, it entertained us, technology such as mobile phones,
computers, or any gadgets entertained us by playing games, reading oline articles, and
communicating. Second, many of us become addicted to technology to a point where it begns
to enslave us that can affect us but also our human being and our way of living.

3. Why should technology be questioned?

Technology has been a huge part of our daily lives. Technology should be questioned because it
is vital to decide on how it willbe used, what the negative and positive aspects will be and its
overall impact on our daily lives. They are the most powerful tools we have for making
decisions and solving problems- for inventing, changing and improving our lives as well as the
lives of others. Questioning is a central to learning, growing, and acting.

4. How is questioning the piety of thought?


Questioning serves as the piety of thoughtbecause we keep asking out ofcuriosity, we keep on
searching and discovering in search for meaning of truth forus to have thoughts because all we
can do in today's generation is to predict andto continually explore.

5. How does art provide a way out of enframing?

Art provides us with a way out of enframing by bringing us closer to poieses and further away
from techne. Art activates human sensitivity if it even exists in an individual.  The use of
imagination and actually seeing things the way they are is part of poieses.  

Modern technology, on the other hand, challenges everything in its desire to prepare for the
future, in other words, it destroys and disrupts the natural world. It is now part of our life
causing it to be an enframing factor in it. To get away from it from time to time and indulge in
the arts reacquaints us to our past reality that is increasingly being forgotten today.

We should look at nature like an art, we should not customize it to fit in our needs. Instead we
should use a technology that is sustainable, technology that does not harm nature and keep it
as it is. Like windmill, it uses wind but not alters it.
