New Features: User Interface
And now ASAP NextGen combines that power with a variety of easy to use
interfaces that allow efficient use of the software based upon a user’s level
of familiarity with optics, optical engineering and ASAP’s optical simulation
paradigm
If for some reason you cannot solve your problem within the new, easy to
use interfaces then you can tap directly into the ASAP’s powerful, optical
engineering specific programming language or choose from a variety of
popular programing languages like C Sharp, Visual Basic and Python
After all a product that cannot solve your problem is impossible to use by
definition

New Features: User Interface
The new ASAP User Interface is composed of three primary working units
• Optics Manager
• Workflow Manager
• Script Manager
Additionally several new Catalog Managers have been created to manage sources,
lenses and other optical property data for design and analysis
Many other features such as the 3D Viewer, optimization and CIE has been
integrated directly into the interface
ASAP’s interfaces are new and improved but will still be familiar to existing
customers

New Features: Catalog Managers
The Catalog Managers are designed to easily access a variety of manufacturer and
measured data used in the design and analysis process as well as for creating your
own catalog items
•Light Sources
•Lenses
•Refractive Indices
•Coatings
•Scatter Models
•Functions
•Variables
These Catalogs can be used in any of the User Interfaces (Optics Manager,
Workflow Manager or Script File) to input data for optical engineering use

Optics Manager
Company Confidential 10
New Features: Optics Manager
The Optics Manager is designed to be easy to use for a beginning or novice ASAP
user with no prior ASAP experience and whose trip through the ASAP work flow
initially requires management and direction
The Optics Manager is designed to make entry of data into ASAP through a CAD
like tree architecture initially outlined by the four step process:
• System
• Source
• Trace
• Analysis
The Optics Manager layout and workflow is designed such that its usage also
provides a teaching insight and tool into how the ASAP best practices scripting
language is constructed through the four step process and not only its INR file
structure
