Building Management System

The document discusses the electrical and building management systems for metro stations. It describes that the building management system will centrally control various station systems like HVAC, plumbing, fire safety through SCADA. The BMS specialist will interface with other contractors and prevent unauthorized access. SCADA will use PLCs, RTUs and a human-machine interface for supervisory control. Electrical systems like lighting, power distribution, backup diesel generators and UPS will also be monitored and controlled. Drawings show the layout of electrical equipment, components and earthing systems.

BUILDING MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM AND SCADA
BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

• Building Management System work relates to an automated station wide

control system interacting with various essential system (like- VAC system,
Plumbing, Fire fighting system, Electrical system etc)
• Control shall be performed centrally by SCADA
• BMS system design shall be detailed and finalized by BMS specialist
subcontractor. BMS subcontractor will interface with MEP sub-contructor
• BMS shall prevent unauthorized access
SCADA
• SCADA-Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA) is a architecture that
uses computers, networked data
communications and graphical user
interface for high level process supervisory
management, but uses other peripheral
devices such as programmable logic
controller (PLC) and discrete PID
controllers to interface with the process
plant or machinery
SCADA
• PLC- Programmable Logic Controller
A programmable logic controller, PLC, or
programmable controller is a digital
computer used for automation of typically
industrial electromechanical processes
• RTU-Remote Terminal Unit
A remote terminal unit (RTU) is a
microprocessor-controlled electronic device
that interfaces objects in the physical world
to a distributed control system
or SCADA(supervisory control and data
acquisition) system
