    No. 712-L.-8th May, 2009.—The following Act of the West Bengal Legislature, having been assented to by the
    Governor, is hereby published for general information:—
    West Bengal Act VI of 2009
    THE WEST BENGAL GOVERNMENT LAND (REGULATION
    OF TRANSFER) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2009.
    [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.]
    [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Kolkata Gazette,
    Extraordinary, of the 8th May, 2009.]

    An Act to amend the West Bengal Government Land (Regulation of Transfer) Act, 1993.
    WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Government Land West Ben. Act
    (Regulation of Transfer) Act, 1993, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter XXVII of
    appearing; 1993.

    It is hereby enacted in the Sixtieth Year of the Republic of India, by the


    Legislature of West Bengal, as follows :-
    Short title and 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Government Land (Regulation
    commencement. of Transfer) (Amendment) Act, 2009.
    (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 4th day of March,
    1997.
    Amendment of 2. In section 1 of the West Bengal Government Land (Regulation of
    section 1 of West Transfer) Act, 1993—
    Ben. Act. XXVII
    of 1993.
    (1) for the existing marginal note, the following marginal note shall be
    substituted :—
    "Short title and commencement.";
    (2) for sub-section (2), the following sub-section shall be substituted :—
    "(2) It shall come into force on such date and in such area as
    the State Government may, by notification, appoint and different
    dates may be appointed for different areas.";
    (3) sub-section (3) shall be omitted.

    (Section 3.)
    Repeal and savings. 3. (1) The West Bengal Government Land (Regulation of Transfer) West Ben. Ord.
    I of 2009.
    (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009, is hereby repealed.
    (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the
    principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been validly
    done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act.
