1. General warnings
The Platform Lift may only be used by people who are able to manoeuvre it safely or who are
accompanied by another person that has been properly instructed as to its use.
The use of the Platform Lift is not advisable for children under 12 years of age who are not
accompanied by an adult.
Stand in a proper position upon the Platform Lift, at a safe distance from the walls of the shaft.
Before activating the Platform Lift, make sure that nothing might accidentally get caught in the free
spaces between the floor, the platform and the shaft.
During the run, hold on to the appropriate handle and do not lean body parts or any eventual
wheelchair parts on the walls of the shaft. The shaft's walls move while the Platform Lift is in
motion.
The safety devices have been installed to provide assistance in the event of danger: do not use
them without cause and do not tamper with them for any reason whatsoever.
Make sure that the floor doors are tightly shut after use.
The Platform Lift’s maximum capacity is indicated on the label which is located within the cabin.
This limit may not be exceeded for any reason.
In the event of prolonged inactivity of the plant system, it is necessary to bring the machine down
to the lower floor and turn off the main switch on the electrical control panel of the platform
elevator.
At least once every 15 days, periodically check correct functioning of the communication system
which allows emergency calls to be placed from the Platform.
The triangular Emergency key must be left in a SEPARATE and KNOWN location to allow for
immediate, safe use by expert personnel in case of need.
In the event of installations with a lift shaft subjected to strong irradiation, the inside of the shaft
can reach very high temperatures. Similarly, cold climatic conditions can cause very low
temperatures in the shaft. These conditions constitute a potential danger to the user and
therefore extreme caution is requested when using the Vertical Platform Lift in such conditions. In
the event of system use in the above-described climatic conditions, it is advisable to contact a
conditioning system and air treatment specialist to identify the best solution to adopt.

3.7 Siren
Apart from when the alarm button is pressed (not present in the case of autodialer system) the siren
sounds in the following cases:
The platform is not level with the floor and one or more doors are open or unlocked ->
continuous sound
he platform is not level with the floor and one of the safety devices has intervened ->
intermittent sound
4. Use
Attention! In the following cases the platform may stop between two floors and so may not be
moved from the outside:
Elevated viscosity of the oil that impedes the descent movement;
Loss of power during ascent movement;
"Technical shifts" caused by a lack of electrical power supply. What is meant by the term
"technical shifts" is all of those movements due to an increase in the volume of oil due to
heating (ascent) and to oil seepage in the valve (descent).
In such cases the Platform Lift will undergo (could undergo) a levelling at the low floor as described
below:
After 2 minutes and 30 seconds, the display or the emergency lamp, where no display is
present, will begin to flash.
The internal alarm will begin to sound;
Having passed another 30 seconds the levelling at the low floor will come about.
If the red signal is on, the car is in movement. The car may be called ONLY when neither the green
lamp nor the red lamp is visible. The call is performed pushing just once, and without having to
hold the button down, the button on the floor button panel, the red signal light lights up indicating
that the machine is in movement.
The commands are active only when all of the doors are closed and none of the safety devices has
been tripped.
To move toward the destination floor, push the respective button and hold it down. Any on-board
command has priority over external commands.
Only after reaching the floor may the button be released, then the door unlocks and it is possible to
exit the platform.
12
4.2. Machines with manual doors or with “EVO” motorised door openers
4.2.1. How to call he Platform Lift from the floors
If the green light is on, the Platform Lift has arrived at the floor.
If the red signal is on, the car is in movement. The Platform Lift can be called once the red light
turns off. The call is performed pushing just once, and without having to hold the button down, the
button on the floor button panel, the red signal light lights up indicating that the machine is in
movement.
When the lift arrives at a floor, the door will automatically unlock and open. After a pre-set amount
of time (default 13 seconds), the door will close again.
If the Platform Lift is already at the destination floor, the door can be opened by pressing the floor
button on the panel or by pulling slightly on the door. The door will automatically open after one of
these actions has been performed.
The commands are only active while all of the doors are closed and locked.
If the door is open, wait for the door to close automatically (default after 13 seconds).
In order to move the Platform Lift towards the destination floor, press and hold down the relative
button.
Only after reaching the floor may the button be released, then the door unlocks and it is possible to
exit the platform.
If the door encounters an obstacle while opening, it automatically stops and re-closes itself after a
set delay time.
If the door encounters an obstacle while closing, it stops and re-opens itself automatically.
13
4.3.2 Photocells
The operation of the photocells is connected to the presence of an obstacle placed between the two
installation points of these devices. In this case the safety function is activated, which stops the
plant system and on the display the symbol for “safety stop” appears. To restart the running of the
platform it is sufficient to remove the obstacle and hold down the command button.
4.3.3 Safety optical sensors (only for versions with photoelectric sensors)
The platform lift is equipped with safety photoelectric sensors to prevent against crushing hazards.
While the platform is moving, if the sensor beam is interrupted by an obstacle, it will immediately
stop and the STOP signal will appear on the display. This signal will remain active until the obstacle
is removed (if the machine is not aligned with a floor, the siren will also sound intermittently). To
verify that there is an object obstructing the beam, pass your arm through the sensor and check if
the STOP signal disappears. If the signal remains, verify the presence of other obstacles (carefully
also checking edges) and the emergency button status (must not be pressed). If the signal does not
disappear, contact service assistance.
4.3.4 Overload
If on the display the “Overload” symbol appears (see page 4) or, for the versions without display,
the overload signal lights up (see figure), the platform cannot move. Totally remove all loads from
the platform. Only after the overload signal disappears is it possible to again use the platform.

5 Light maintenance
The THYSSENKRUPP ENCASA S.R.L. Platform Lift only requires the owner to perform simple
maintenance operations.
It is advisable to keep the rubber-coated load surface clean; it can be washed with common
detergents for rubber; after cleaning, dry the load surface thoroughly before using the Platform Lift
again.
If the walls of the cabin or of the protective panel are in plasticized sheet-metal, they should be
cleaned with neutral detergents and water. Chemical solvents should never be used for any reason
whatsoever as they could damage the material. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
If the Platform lift is equipped with a "cabin", the cleaning of the walls should be done as described
in the previous points. Choose the detergent to be used based on the type of wall covering material.
Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
The floor doors are in varnished metal, like the shaft (in those versions where it has been provided.)
Such parts can be cleaned by using water and normal detergents for domestic use. Chemical
solvents should not be used for any reason whatsoever as they could damage the material. Dry
thoroughly after cleaning. Use the same procedure for any glass parts if present.
Check for oil leaks around the hydraulic control panel. If any leaks are found, contact maintenance
personnel.
If the Platform Lift’s alarm should be set off and you wish to silence the warning signal while waiting
for maintenance personnel to arrive, disconnect the Platform Lift’s electrical supply as described.
6 Maintenance
A maintenance contract, in accordance with the Italian Presidential Decree no. 459 and Ministerial
Memorandum no. 157296 dated 14/04/1997, must be stipulated with a service company which
has been approved by THYSSENKRUPP ENCASA for all operations which the user cannot carry out.
Regular maintenance of the Platform Lift, including at least two annual overhauls, will guarantee the
continued efficiency of all of the parts which make up the Platform Lift and is indispensable for its
safe and proper function.
Before performing any maintenance operations upon the Platform Lift, switch it off by
turning the electrical panel’s main switch to the 0 (zero) position. Reactivate the Platform Lift
once the maintenance operations have been completed.
7 Internal lighting
The internal part of the Platform Lift is lit by a ceiling lamp (in configurations equipped with a
protective panel) or by two spot lights (in configurations with cabin, protective panel and canopy).
The light goes out automatically, if the platform stops at a floor, within a pre-set time of 30 seconds,
if no command buttons are pressed or if a door is not opened.
In the case of the ELEGANCE version, illumination is guaranteed by four halogen spot lamps, or else
by a fluorescent bulb system, in the case of a false ceiling or by a matrix of LEDs.

Emergency battery
Inside of the electrical control panel there is an emergency battery group, which in the event of a
power outage, sees to providing electrical power to the Platform Lift. The battery unit allows the
operation of those solenoid valves necessary for electrical emergency descent. The batteries are
charged by an internal battery charger on the electrical switch panel. If the batteries are discharged
or damaged, if the platform is stopped at a floor, the run commands, both inside and outside, are
disabled.
The integrity of the battery group must be checked and verified periodically.
Emergency descent
In the event of a black-out, it is possible to move down to a lower floor than where the lift is by
pressing the lower floor descent button. Once the floor has been reached, the lift cannot be used
until power has been restored.
In the event of a power outage and the non-operation of the emergency electrical descent, an
expert operator may have the platform descend to the next floor down pushing and holding down
the button located on the solenoid valve found on the hydraulic control unit.
