ROGT 2017 WH40k Combat Patrol Packet
● The Flex selection may consist of 1 unit from Troops, Elite, Fast Attack or Heavy Support
● Unit Restrictions: The following guidelines are what is allowed in Combat Patrol
o No named or unique Characters are allowed
o No model may have a toughness rating of 8 or Higher
o No model may have a combined total value of toughness and wounds greater than 12.
o Dedicated Transports may have a combined toughness and wounds of up to 17
o Dedicated Transports may only be taken for a unit that is capable of embarking in it
o Forgeworld Units may not be taken in Combat Patrol
Game Length: Game length will be limited to 5 game turns. Do not roll for additional turns.
Players will have 1 hour to play each tournament round. At the end of the hour it is dice down and the game is
concluded as is. If you do not have enough time to complete a game turn, do not start a new one. Announcements
will be made at 10 and 5 minutes remaining in the match.
Objective Markers: Objective Markers should be circular in shape and should be no larger than 44mm. 40mm
bases, or the Renegade Open Bottle Caps are ideal.
Warlord: Select one model to be your Warlord before each game. This model gains a Warlord trait, and grants
your opponent Slay the Warlord if removed as a casualty.
If your army contains models with the Character keyword, one of these models must be your warlord. If your army
does not contain any characters, then a sergeant-type from a unit must be selected as your warlord. If your army
does not contain any characters or sergeant type models, choose any model in your list.
A sergeant type model is defined a model in a unit that has a different, usually better, statline than all of the other
models in that same unit. For example an Imperial Guard sergeant, a Dire Avenger Exarch, an Ork Boss Nob, or
Skitarii Ranger Alpha.
Secondary Objectives
Each mission awards secondary objectives. These objectives may only be scored once per game.
Solo-Blood: BOTH PLAYERS MAY EARN THIS OBJECTIVE. To score this you must kill at least a whole enemy unit
similar to scoring a kill point WITHOUT giving one up in the same BATTLE ROUND.
Example: An Imperial Guard (IG) army kills a whole enemy unit on Top of Game Turn 1, but the opposing
Dark Eldar (DE) army does NOT kill a whole enemy unit on Bottom of Game Turn 1. IG earns this point at
this time. But later in the same game on Game Turn 4 the IG player makes no whole enemy unit kills on
Top of Game Turn 4 but DE player does make a whole enemy unit kill on Bottom of Game Turn 4. Now
the DE player has earned Solo-Blood as well and both players have earned this objective for the game.
Tournament Points
Each round, a player can earn up to 7 battle points, for a possible 28 battle points.
Players will also be graded on painting score, earning up to a possible 10 points.
Players will earn 3 points for every Favorite Player vote they receive.
Prizes will be awarded to Best Overall (most total points), Best General (most battle points), Best Painted and Best
Sportsmanship.

PRE-GAME SETUP
2. Discuss terrain effects for your game using the reference on pg. 248 WH40kRB.
3. Roll off to place Terrain. Then place Terrain, going back and forth until all terrain (4 pieces is recommended) are
placed.
● Placed Terrain MUST adhere to the following restrictions:
❖ Must be more than 6 inches from any table edge.
❖ Must be more than 5 inches from another piece of terrain.
❖ If a piece could not be placed players may "bump" terrain to mutual satisfaction in order to place the
missing piece.
4. Choose Pre-Game Abilities in the order of Warlord Traits, Psychic Powers, and then codex specific.
6. The Player who placed their Objective LAST chooses their Deployment Zone. If the mission does not involve placing
objectives, players roll off; the winner may choose their deployment zone, or have their opponent choose.
7. Starting with the Player that did NOT choose their Deployment Zone, Deploy your 1st unit.
8. The Player that finishes Deploying their army first, gets a +1 Bonus to “Roll for First Turn.”
10. The Player that did NOT choose the Turn Order and is going Second may attempt Seize the Initiative.
During Pre-Game Set-up, place 4 objective markers onto the battlefield. At the end of the game, whichever player
controls more objective markers wins the match. Whichever player has the most models within 3” of the EDGE of
an objective marker controls that objective. If both players control the same number of objectives the Objective is
tied and each player receives 2 points.

Mission 2
● Table Quarters. Divide the table into four parts that are 24"W x 24"L. To be considered in a Table Quarter the
majority of the models in a unit must be COMPLETELY in that table quarter. Single model units must be WHOLLY
within a Table Quarter in order to count.
❖ Players hold a quarter by having more units than their opponent inside a quarter.
❖ This objective has a running tally scored at the end of each PLAYER TURN for the ACTIVE PLAYER
beginning with turn TWO.
❖ Players earn one (1) point per quarter they control at the end of their OWN Player Turn.
❖ You must have the highest score at the end of the game to win.
❖ If both players tie, each player receives 2 points.

Mission 3
You and your opponent track kill points (whole units destroyed). If a player is tabled, they automatically lose this
objective, even if they had more kill points than their opponent. If the game ends in a tie, each player receives 2

Mission 4
At Deployment, place an objective marker on the center of the table. This is the Relic. An INFANTRY model can
carry the Relic by moving into contact with it – that model then automatically picks it up. From that point, the Relic
remains with the model (move the Relic with the model to show this) until it is dropped, which only happens if the
model is slain or flees. A model with the Relic cannot embark in a TRANSPORT, leave the battlefield, or move
further than 9" in any single phase for any reason.
If neither player controls the relic at the end of the game, each player is awarded 2 points.
