State Legislation and adherence to this policy and related processes.

Procedure

1. Create a simple position description for the job covering key activities, tasks, skills required,
expectations, deliverables and safety considerations. When advertising, avoid discriminatory
language e.g. young person. Target the requirements of the job e.g. we seek an industry
professional.

2. The recruitment process may include some or all of these: an application form, interviews,
practical testing, reference checks, and right to work in Australia checks. If undertaking an
interview ensure there are no possible discriminatory requests for information, for example do
you plan to have a family in the near future?

3. Give the successful candidate a contract of employment setting out clear terms and
conditions. This includes the nature of employment e.g. permanent part time, casual. The
contract should include a welcome note and start details.

4. Once the candidate has accepted, contact the unsuccessful candidates as a matter of
courtesy.

descriptors and specifications (see attached template, for use if required).

1. The Unit Manager provides supervision and coordination of the overall clinical and
administrative staff of the unit ensure the delivery of safe and competent nursing care and
provide for the safety and well-being of Nursing & Midwifery staff, patients/residents and
visitors.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, their families and all members
of the health care team including management and stakeholders.

and strategic goals of the organisation.

The Nurses and midwives (NSW public health sector) EBA 2016-2020 and applicable
legislation. This includes, but is not limited to, the National Employment Standards in the
Fair Work Act 2009.

Short description from the meeting
Started with formalities greetings and small talk. I showed to the manager the staffing plan and key
points in this as our organisation will need to hire extra 500 people in three years. He was granting
this plan. Also I did tell him about the professional agency I would go to ask for help and advice while
hiring and recruitment processes. That he agreed on. I have also made up professional position
description for our managers to use. That I have shown to our senior manager.
Then I said that I would like to be in the process of recruitment, selection and induction processes that
will take place. I can look at the interviews and check over the resumes from the applicants.
Then I showed all reworked policies and procedures. And our senior manager signed them with
approval.

3. Conduct the recruitment and selection process with the potential employee (which will
be played by your assessor), making sure you meet internal and external requirements.
 Confirm with panel colleagues their time of availabilities to ensure their attendance.

 Notify the successful applicants of their application progress.

 Offer or request an interview, firstly confirm with the applicant that they still would like to
continue with their application.
 Schedule an interview time. Ensuring that relevant amount of time is scheduled for each

 How would you ensure compliance to legal and ethical standards by your nursing staff?

 How do you manage a member of your nursing team whom is continually causing conflict in
the team?
 You are faced with a disgruntled patient, whom is yelling and demanding to speak with the
medical officer. How do you handle this situation?

 Explain a policy and procedure that you improved and implemented in your previous role/s

 How did you go about maintaining and evaluating outcome of this policy and procedures?
How did you evaluate nursing operations?
 How have you kept up to date with trends and changes in medicine since you have been in a
management role?

 Scenario: your team is significantly short staffed, what do you do to ensure that quality patient
care is met as well as clinic efficiency?
 What is your experience in performing Performance Development Reviews? Explain how you
managed a situation when a member of your team did not receive a position performance
review.

Closing the interview should be an invitation for the candidate to ask any questions and to provide the
candidate with details of what the next steps are to happen in selecting a successful character.
Commence general chatter and walk them to the exit door, thank them and show them out.

1. Position

to perform these duties, and any other duties the employer may assign to you, having regard to your

2. Probation
2.1 A probation period will apply for the first 6 months of your employment. During this time, we

5. Remuneration

5.1 You will be paid weekly at the rate of $36.87 per hour
5.2 The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the
Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

5.3 Your remuneration will be reviewed annually and may be increased at the employer’s
discretion.

6. Leave
6.1 You are entitled to leave (e.g. annual leave, personal leave, careers leave, compassionate
leave, parental leave, community service leave and long service leave) in accordance with the Nurses
and midwives (TAS public health sector) EBA 2016-2020 and the National Employment Standards.
7. Your obligations to the employer
7.1 You will be required to:
(a) Perform all duties to the best of your ability always;
(b) Use your best endeavours to promote and protect the interests of the employer; and
(c) Follow all reasonable and lawful directions given to you by the employer, including complying
with policies and procedures as amended from time to time. These policies and procedures are not
incorporated into your contract of employment.
8. Termination of employment
8.1 Under the Fair Work Act 2009 the employer may terminate your employment at any time by
providing you with notice in writing in accordance with this table:
