FAQ For Middle School Students and Parents - Part 1
If my child is attending on the 2 day a week schedule for Middle School, which two days will he/she attend?
● If your child’s last name begins with A-L, your child will attend his/her two days on Monday & Thursdays.
● If your child’s last name begins with M-Z, your child will attend his/her two days on Tuesdays & Fridays.
When will my child receive his/her schedule and know which homeroom they are in?
● If your child is attending school in person, either 2 days a week or 5 days a week, he/she will receive a schedule on
the first day of school along with an orientation session.
● If your child is attending 100% virtually and you still haven’t received your child’s schedule, you may do so Friday,
August 28th between 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.OR Monday, August 31st at 3:30 p.m.
● If your child is attending school in person, either 2 days a week or 5 days a week, he/she will receive their
chromebook on the first day of school.
● If your child is attending virtually, you should have already been contacted with a pick up day and time.
● If your child is attending 100% virtually and you still haven’t received your child’s chromebook, you may pick one up
Friday, August 28th from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. OR Monday, August 31st at 3:30 p.m.
● Buses should arrive at your bus stop anytime between 6:50 a.m. - 7:10 a.m. It would be a good idea to be ready for
pick up on the first day at 6:50 a.m.. After the first day of school, you will have a better idea of the best time to be at
your bus stop.
If I am bringing my child to school, where and when do I drop him/her off?
● You may drop your child off in the front of the Middle School building between 7:40 a.m. - 7:52 a.m.
● Students will remain in cars until a staff member takes their temperature and gives them the “green light” to enter
the building.
● Parent drop-off students will then enter through the front doors and will be directed to the upstairs cafeteria and/or
gymnasium.
● At 7:55 a.m. students will be dismissed to go to their lockers and then will proceed to their homerooms.
● Students will be in their homeroom before the tardy bell rings at 8 a.m.
● Parent pick up is in the front of the Middle School Building beginning at 2:30 p.m.
● Your child will wait on the sidewalk until you pull up to the front of the building.
If my child is attending school 5 days a week, when is his/her first day of school?
● For those 6th grade students who have registered for band, they will have a band class if they are attending school
in person.
● Those who are attending virtually may participate in band when they return to school in person.
● Your child will be assigned a locker and may visit their locker 4 times a day (First thing in the morning, before
lunch, after lunch, and again at the end of the day). At the end of the day, your child will take everything from their
locker home and leave the locker door open. This will allow their lockers to be sanitized each evening.
Is my child required to log on at a certain time each day?
Your child isn’t required to log on at a specific time during the day. However, we would like to suggest that you have your child log
on by 8:30 a.m. each morning and review any daily announcements or emails from teacher(s) and get necessary learning materials
(books, workbooks, etc.). This will also allow us to take his/her attendance for the day. We also suggest they log on to their APEX

Where can I find out more information about the APEX virtual learning?
● Chromebooks must be fully charged before the start of each school day.
● Do not remove the South Point Schools logo sticker or the identification tag or barcode from the Chromebook.
● When charged fully overnight, chromebooks should keep their charge for the entire school day.
● Students are responsible for the general care of the district-owned Chromebook. Chromebooks that are broken, or
fail to work properly, must be reported to the middle school office as soon as possible.
● Do not place anything on the keyboard before closing the lid (e.g., pens, pencils, notebooks).
