The Power of Vision

Session 1

God created you to be a person of purpose. And vision is God’s tool to help you live from
the core of your being. Let’s take a moment to think about what vision is and how you discover
God’s vision for your life.

Vision is a picture of your desired future that stirs your innermost passion and syncs your
mind, body and soul. The challenge for all of us is to discover God’s vision for our life and then
to have the courage to live it out. Do you have a clear sense of God’s purpose, or vision, for your
life? How would you describe it?

Vision is so powerful that it will clarify your life purpose, it will help you establish clear
priorities, motivate commitment, fuel passion, and provide focus for reaching your fullest
potential.

So what is vision really like?

Vision is like the eye of the eagle. An eagle sees farther than any other animal. In the same
way, vision allows you to look into the future and see a life filled with meaning and purpose.

Vision is like a magnifying glass. A magnifying glass brings objects into clearer focus. Vision
from God allows you to see your life with greater clarity.

Vision is like the banks of a river. The banks of the river provide direction for the flow of
the
water. Vision provides direction and keeps you moving in the way God wants you to go.

God has given men and women incredible vision and purpose for their lives which has
ultimately changed the course of history for many people, cities, and nations. Many of these men
and women were called out of very humble circumstances, but were faithful to God’s vision for
their life.

I want to ask you a few questions: Where are you in the process of discovering your vision?
Have you ignored working toward goals in life? Do you have some ideas but find them unclear?
Or do you already know God’s vision for your life and are actively pursuing it?

Wherever you fall in that spectrum, know you are special, unique, and created by God for a
purpose. Discovering that purpose is one of the great joys of the Christian life. So I want to
encourage you by God’s word in Jeremiah 29:11,

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

God’s heart for you is to have a hope and a vision for your future. Can you envision a future
so appealing that you are willing to partner with God to see that future created? I want you to
take time this week to seek God and the special plan He has for your life.

In the next few videos, we will look at the biblical example of Nehemiah, who God used
through the power of vision to bring hope to the people of Jerusalem. The story contained in the
book of Nehemiah is a model that will help you understand God’s process of birthing vision in
the heart of His servants.
