Hello, a couple of months ago I wrote a blog about Easy Post Workout Meals, to
balance things off I decided to write a blog about What to Eat Before a Workout (pre
workout meals).

Firstly, I am going to start off by saying Yes. It is okay to have something to eat about
45 to 60 minutes before you workout. Eating something before you workout is most
likely to improve your performance during a workout. What you eat before you
workout is important because this will determine how much energy you are going to
have during your workout.

Now that we know its important to eat before we workout lets look at what we should
eat. Before a workout you should eat food that contains either carbs, protein or healthy
fats. The carbs will give you the energy you need during your workout and the protein will
help you recover after your workout.

Below are my 4 go to pre workout meals. I have combined these from regular items in the
fridge and the kitchen and they are easy to put together.

1.COFFEE & BANANAS

Anybody who knows me, knows that a cup of coffee and a banana are my go-to pre
workout meal. Personally, I like this meal because it is easy to put together and it gives me
the energy that I need when I am working out. Coffee gives me the energy boost I need and
bananas are a good source of carbs which also gives me energy. For those who do not enjoy
coffee you could always switch the coffee with tea.

2.ENERGY BARS & BANANAS

An energy bar and a banana is another great pre workout meal. The energy bar is great
because it will give you energy and like I mentioned before bananas are great to have
before you workout.

3.AVOCADOS & TOAST

Avocados and toast are a great meal to have before a workout. Avocados are a good source
of healthy fats and toast will give you those carbs that you also need before a workout. This
is a great morning pre workout meal.

4. BLUEBERRRY PROTIEN SMOOTHIE

A blueberry protein smoothie is a great pre or post workout meal. A protein smoothie is a
great source of protein which the body needs to recover after a workout. A blueberry
protein smoothie is quite easy to make which makes it a great pre – workout meal. For the
protein smoothie below I made it with blackberries, strawberries, ice and protein powder.

5.BOILED EGGS

5/7
2 hard boiled eggs are another great pre workout meal. You could always have the boiled
eggs with some water. Boiled eggs are a great source of protein.

Hope you found these pre workout meal ideas helpful. These meals are not perfect, but
they are meals I have tried and have found to work for me. Also, this might have given you
ideas you would want to try if so let me know.
