2. Modular Avionics Unit / Modular Radio Cabinet — Software Loading (Target Load)
A. General
This procedure provides instructions for a target load the Master Operating System (MOS) software
/ databases. The MOS software / databases are target loaded to a module or Line Replaceable Unit
(LRU) under the following conditions:
• Modular Avionics Unit (MAU) modules removed and replaced
• Modular Radio Cabinet (MRC) Network Interface Module (NIM) removed and replaced
• Full load errors which may be corrected through target load
Prior training in performing a software load procedure on an aircraft is required.
Software / databases are typically available on the following media:
• Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash drive or memory stick
• Compact Disks (CD)
Current Integrated Navigation Data Services (INDS) databases are available and may be
downloaded from the INDS website.
This system contains ESD sensitive components. Ensure all ESD safety precautions and practices
are followed while performing maintenance. See Electrostatic Discharge - Standard Practices,
20-23-00, Maintenance Practices.

1 Each MAU and MRC module / LRU listed in Software Matrix Table 201 is
operational.
2 Percent loss column for any module does not display more than a 5% loss.
NOTE: Modules experiencing more than a 5% loss typically produce software /
database load errors.
(4) Start CMC Remote Terminal application as follows:
(a) If maintenance laptop kiosk is available, perform the following:
1 Select CMC Terminal/DLS link in Aircraft System Tools menu.
NOTE: This kiosk link will set the laptop IP address to 192.168.192.1 and
disable the firewall, anti-virus and wireless card.
2 Select OK.
3 Go to Step 2.C1.(4)(c).
(b) If laptop kiosk application is unavailable, double click CMC.RT.exe shortcut to start
CMC Remote Terminal application or perform the following:
NOTE: The CMC.RT.exe shortcut should be located on maintenance laptop desktop.
1 Click on maintenance laptop START menu.
2 Select CMC Remote Terminal.
3 Select CMC RT / DLS tool.
