1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Scope of Work
The method statement is prepared for Roof Finishing for "Construction of Lekela
2.1 Personnel
See Attached organization chart. (Appendix A)
2.2 Equipments
Concrete mixer machine.
Grinder 9".
Gas Torch.
Survey Equipment
Hand Tools.
Roofing tiles, cement, sand, membrane rolls, insulation boards and other materials will be
arranged into groups at appropriate place to gain safe and clean work place.
Portable ABC Fire Extinguisher equipment with required number will be available.

3. DEFINITION O F PROCESS
3.1 General
• Roof system insulation will be used to prevent water rain from penetrating within
reinforcement concrete slab and controlled at the temperature and humidity to specific
levels without risk of condensation.
3.2 Materials
• All materials will be selected as per the contract.
• The contractor will submit all roofing finishing system to the owner for approval.
• Membrane rolls will be stored vertically in a dry place protected from sun and weather.
• Extruded Polystyrene Rigid Insulation Boards will be 5cm thickness.
• Metal flashing will be 0.5mm thickness of stainless steel, conforming to ASTM, or 1 mm
thickness of aluminium.
• The contractor could start using the design mix of lightweight slope concrete and mortar
after getting the owner approval
3.3 Installation
• Clean the concrete surface and keep dry, smooth and free from any irregularities.
• The contractor will pour lightweight concrete with a minimum drainage slope of 1.5% and
a minimum thickness 50mm as per approved drawing.
• Membrane will be installed according to manufacturer's recommendations; this will be
applied by using gas torch with side laps Bern minimum and with end laps 12cm minimum
• After membrane installation completely the contractor will be tested the membrane by
using water test to get the owner acceptance.
• Membrane flashing will be bonded to the perimeter and vertical of 1 cm minimum above
the finish level.

Thermal insulation rigid boards will be laid in a staggered manner with thickness 5cm.
Filter fabric will be installed over insulation boards prior to placing roofing tiles.
Provide clean sand under roofing tiles.
The roofing cement tiles will be installed using approved mix design mortar.
The contractor will execute a suitable slope in roofing cement tiles to drainage point.
Checking level of tiles using spirit level.
The contractor will install skirting tiles of the same roofing cement tiles.
The contractor will install approved metal flashing above skirting and use approved sealant on top of
metal flashing according to approved drawing.
3.4 GROUTING
• Tiles will be wetted before Appling grout.
• Joints 3mm or less in width will be grouted with approved cementitious grout.
• Upon completion of the work, all surfaces of tiles will be cleaned properly.
