Validation of MODICON 3-2 Receiver Board Operation
Receiver Setup Procedure
Set up the MODICOM 3/1 transmitter (see separate help document for detailed instructions)
Connect the power supplies to the MODICOM 3/2 receiver as shown below

Ensure that the following initial conditions exist on the MODICOM 3/2 Receiver board:
a) MODE switch in FAST position
b) SYNC. CODE DETECTOR 'on/off' switch in OFF position
c) ERROR CHECK CODE SELECTOR switches to 'off' (A=0, B=0)
d) All four SWITCHED FAULTS to OFF position
e) PULSE GENERATOR DELAY ADJUST control fully clockwise

MODICOM 3/2 Initial Conditions
The MODICOM 3/1 transmitter and MODICOM 3/2 receiver are now set up for
correct operation.
On the MODICOM 3/1 board, connect:
1kHz output to CH0 input
2kHz output to CH1 input
Connect MODICOM 3/1 to MODICOM 3/2 as shown in Table below
MODICOM 3/1 (Transmitter) MODICOM 3/2 (Receiver)

TX T0 Output RX SYNC Input
TX DATA Output RX DATA Input
Turn on the power supply.
Observe the display on the oscilloscope at the following test points on
MODICOM 3/1:
Transmitter CH0 (1kHz) at test point 10
Transmitter CH1 (2kHz) at test point 12

Test Points 10 and 12
Display the transmitter CH0 input (tp10) on oscilloscope channel 1, and use
this channel to trigger the oscilloscope.
Display transmitter TX Data Output (tp44) on channel 2 of the
oscilloscope.
This clearly shows the data stream being sent from the transmitter to the
receiver.
Vary the 1kHz and 2kHz amplitude controls (in the transmitter Function
Generator block) and note that the transmitted data varies.
Display the receiver CH0 and CH1 outputs (tp33 and tp36 on MODICOM
3/2 -see Figure 45).
Check that the two sinewaves have been successfully sent from the transmitter
to the receiver, and that each appears on the correct output channel.

Test Points 33 and 36
Vary the 1kHz and 2kHz amplitude controls on the transmitter, and observe
the effect on the receiver outputs.
This verifies that the MODICOM 3/2 receiver board is working correctly.
