Lesson 1

At the end of this lesson, you are expected to:

• Divides decimals up to 4 decimal places

by 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001

Introduction:
Division of Decimals (Communication)

To divide decimals up to 4 decimals places by 0.1, 0.01,

and 0.001 move the decimal point of the divisor to the right to
make it a whole number, make sure that the number of
movement you’ve done in the divisor must also be done with the
dividend, then align the decimal point of the dividend to the
quotient.

To make it easy with you, just count the number of decimal places of the
divisor then move the decimal point of the dividend to the right with the same number
of movement. When you become familiar with it you can solve problems involving
divisors of 0.1, 0.01 and 0.001 mentally.

What’s In

A. Divide the following decimal numbers.

1. 2.25 ÷ 0.25
2. 6.50 ÷ 0.50
3. 12.75 ÷ 0.75
4. 20.00 ÷ 2.5
5. 12.5 ÷ 6.25

B. Multiply the following numbers.

1. 8.5 x 100
2. 12.56 x 10

• Divides decimals up to 2 decimal places by 10, 100,

Introduction

Division of Decimals by 10, 100 and 1000

To divide decimals up to 2 decimal places by 10,

100, and 1000 just divide as the whole number. Move the
decimal point to the left in the dividends based on the number of
0’s in the divisor. Add zeroes, if needed. Be sure that the decimal
point of the dividends is aligned to the quotient.

To make it easy with you, just count the number of zeroes in the divisor then
move the decimal point in the dividend to the left with the same number of zeroes.
When you become familiar with it you can solve problems involving divisors of 10,
