    Q1. Why Police Checkpoint is very important?

    A1. Police checkpoint is very important because it helps and prevents crime. It

    also regulates traffic flow within the area of responsibility and some other

    people who have bad intention then it will reprimand themselves not to engage

    in crime due to checkpoint.

    Q2.What particular area should police checkpoint be conducted here in

    Cotabato City?

    A2. Precisely, it should be conducted in crime prone area, main roads and

    public place.

    Q3. What specific time/ schedule should police checkpoint be conducted?

    A3. Actually, we have a schedule in conducting checkpoint somehow daily,


    shifting in crime prone area. If there is instances of crime we are assigning our
    police officer to have a thorough checkpoint in that particular area.
    Q4. What are the things to do if a motor vehicle approaching checkpoint?

    A4. Just go with the flow, if they don’t have the intention of evading the
    checkpoint but some motor vehicle driver and passenger they try to evade
    checkpoint due to they are not wearing proper uniform, they don’t have
    registration, they don’t have driver’s license. If they try to see checkpoint they
    evade. In the checkpoint we know that those persons evading checkpoint have
    no complete documents to show like registration of their motor vehicle and
    driver’s license.

    In our part as police officer, we will do the standard operating procedure, we


    will greet the drivers and passengers with courtesy, and with that kind of
    attrition it creates harmonious relationship. On the part of drivers and
    passengers they must cooperate and answer the police officer with courtesy,
    present all the necessary documents/papers requested by the officer. In fact,
    there are still drivers that are hard client especially uniformed personnel when
    they are approaching checkpoint they usually present their uniformed identity
    and approaching in a boastful manner and they don’t want to be retain by the
    officer. In the part of officer conducting checkpoint we are dealing in a patient
    manner to avoid conflict.

    Q5. What are the basis or sign if the checkpoint is legal to all drivers?

    A5. Actually, there are sign that they can see if the checkpoint is legal usually
    there is a word of checkpoint in the boards with police marked vehicle and the
    following officer conducting checkpoint wearing proper uniform with name
    plate. In night time of conducting checkpoint it should be well lighted with a
    checkpoint sign and police marked vehicle.

    Q6. What are the rights of drivers in police checkpoint?

    A6. Actually the drivers and passengers has the right in police checkpoint but
    in the first place we are the person in authority because of the inconvenience
    made by the checkpoint there are still complaining drivers. In fact there are
    still drivers and passengers have lack of knowledge in checkpoint while the
    others they accept and cooperate in checkpoint because they know that it is for
    their safety and security. We cannot blame them because they are civilians;
    they do not know what the work of police is. In our part as police officer we
    thoroughly informing them that sorry for the inconvenience it’s for your own
    safety and security. We owe our trust to the public and we are mandated to
    serve and protect our people.

    Q7.What are the challenges you experience in conducting police checkpoint?

    A7. In terms of conducting checkpoint even we are tired for whole day of work

    and facing a hot day of job but we always bear in our mind that we are

    mandated and it is our responsibility to serve our people.

    Q8.When conducting Police Checkpoint, did you also encounter angry drivers?

    A8. Yes, we encounter also some drivers that are angry, disgusted, arrogant
    and boastful because of this checkpoint it may cause traffic congestion as well
    as can delay the drivers and passengers in chasing their time in work and
    transactions. In our part as police officer we are informing them that sorry for
    the inconvenience its for your own safety and security. We cannot prevent
    because of checkpoint there is a negative interpretation of some drivers and
    passengers while the others they accept and cooperate in checkpoint for their
    safety and security.

    Q9. What will you do if you found out in Police Checkpoint that the motor

    vehicle is unregistered, expired, unlicensed driver and drunk driver?

    A9. Actually there are drivers driving without license, drunk, unregistered, and
    expired motor vehicles
