1 Scope
This Specification describes the requirements of lubricating oil for use in refrigeration
and air-conditioning systems using reciprocating compressors. It also meets the
requirements of certain rotary type refrigeration compressors.
2.1 Any conflicts between this Specification and other applicable Saudi Aramco
Materials System Specifications (SAMSSs), Engineering Standards (SAESs),
Standard Drawings (SASDs) or industry standards, codes and forms shall be
resolved in writing by the Company or Buyer Representative through the
Manager, Consulting Services Department, Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.
2.2 Direct all requests to deviate from this Specification in writing to the Company or
Buyer Representative, who shall follow internal company waiver procedure and
forward such requests to the Manager, Consulting Services Department, Saudi
Aramco, Dhahran.

4 Requirements
The oil shall be made from special, narrow cut naphthenic base oils and refined to be
waxfree. It must have a low moisture content and meet the following:

5 Qualification
The supplier shall provide evidence of qualification as stipulated above together with a
1-liter sample against which all supplies of the respective product must comply, within
industry accepted tolerances. Initial qualification and any subsequent formulation
changes must be approved by the Responsible Standardization Agency.
