COURSE DESCRIPTION

A foundational course in control system


Purpose of this course is to:

Familiarizes students with the basic concepts of control systems.

Lay a foundation for designing advanced control system.

Understand time-domain and frequency-domain methods for the analysis, modeling and
design of continuous-time control systems.

The main questions addressed:


What is a system?

How to design and analyse control to make a system stable?

COURSE OBJECTIVES
After the completion of course the students will be capable of:
• Review of Laplace transform.
• Develop mathematical model for different physical systems.
• Express the differential equations in terms of transfer function and state space
models.
• Analysis of systems with respect to time domain specifications and steady state
errors.
• Compute the stability of system using Routh Hurwitz, root locus and frequency
domain techniques.
• Design controller using different techniques.
