b) A car travels at a speed miles per hour, write down how long will the car travel in days?
Leave your answer in the exponent form.
Speed = Distance/Time
7^2 = distance/7^7
Speed = 7^2 * 24 in days
a) x8 – y8
= (x^4) ^2 - (y^4) ^2
= (x^4 - y^4) (x^4 + y^4)
= (x^2) ^2 - (y^2) ^2 * (x^4 + y^4)
= (x^2 - y^2) (x^2 +y^2) (x^4 + y^4)
= (x-y) (x + y) (x^2 + y^2) (x^4 + y^4)
b) (y + 2)2 – 16
= (y + 2)2 - 24
= (y + 2)2 – 42
‘A’ here = (y + 2)
‘B’ here = 4
= (y + 6) (y – 2)
So,
49x^2 can be written as (7x) ^2
25y^2 can be written as (5y) ^2
70xy can be written as 2 (7x) (5y)

Identity – a^2 + 2ab + b^2 = (a + b) ^2
3. Rahul made a square whose area is given by (4x2 + 12xy + 9y2) units. Rachit wants to make a square of
same size but doesn’t know the side of a square. Calculate the side of the square.

5. The circumference of a circular clock face is 13.12 centimeters more than three times the radius.
Calculate the radius of the clock face.
So,
2
Circumference of circle = 2 πr
= 3r + 13.12 = c
= 3r + 13.12 = pi * 2r
= 13.12 = pi * 2r - 3r
= 13.12 = r *(3.14 * 2-3)
R = 13.12 / (3.14 * 2 - 3) = 3.996 centimeters

a) Write down
the
information shown in the above chart in a tabular form.
c) The sum of three times the number of medals won by great Britain in 2004 and 10 is 100. Derive an
appropriate algebraic expression to solve above equation.
Let number of medals in 2004 = x ; and 2010 = y
3
Expression:
100 = 3x + 3y
3x + 3y + -3y = 100 + -3y
3y + -3y = 0
3x + 0 = 100 + -3y
3x = 100 + -3y
x = 33.3 -1y
b) Write down a formula for the amount M $ that Alexis will have left in her bank
account after n weeks, if she only uses the account to pay rent.
c) Use above formula/ equation to find out the amount in her account after:
(i) 7 weeks & (ii) 2 years

13. One of the most notable human traits is the ability to create products, habitats and modes of
transportation. However, unlike most other species, we are also capable of destroying natural resources
on a large scale. The amount of forest remaining in Indonesia as a function of the country’s population is
represented in the table below.
a. Represent the data for population and area using a scatter plot.
c. How do you think the area of forest in Indonesia changed during 2016 and 2017? Explain.
d. Describe the relationship that is represented in the scatter plot (form, strength, direction).
14. a) A farmer has a rectangular field with length (3x + 7y)unit and breadth (6x – y)unit. If he wants to
fence the field, calculate the length of wire required. Also, write down the length of wire when x = 8
and y = 3.
