Addis Ababa Institute of Technology
Graduate Program in Geotechnical Engineering
Course Title: Advanced computational Methods in Program: Regular
Geotechnical Engineering Semester: I
Course Code: CENG 6202 Course Instructor: Dr. Tensay G.
Credit Hours: 3

Prerequisite:

Students must have the knowledge of the different soil constitutive models, good background of computer
programing knowledge (FORTRAN, C++, Matlab, Mathematica)

Course Objectives:

The overall objective of this course is to provide students the fundamental concepts of the different advanced
computational methods (FEM, FDM, BEM, HM) and apply these methods for solving some geotechnical
problems we often encounter in practice. Introduce students with some of the state-o-the-art geotechnical
engineering software.
