Leading of Leader

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP?

There have been many attempts to define leadership but it

basically comes down to prompting or inspiring others into
willing action to achieve a specific purpose.

“Leadership is the ability to get others to do what they

don’t want to do, and like it”.

Harry S Truman

The word leadership can refer to:

1. The process of leading.
2. Those entities that perform one or more acts of leading.
3. The ability to affect human behavior so as to accomplish a
mission designated by the leader.

Definitions:
According to, ‘IBM way’, Buck Rodgers states, “ a real
leader has the ability to motivate others to their highest
level of achievement; then gives them the opportunity &
the freedom to grow.”

Leadership is an art of influencing human behaiour.

Leadership is performed by a person called a leader. The leader
solves the problems of his followers. He takes the responsibilitity
for all the actions of his followers. Leadership is a dynamic &
continuous process.

Categories and types of

leadership
Leadership is a quality a person may have. One can categorize the
exercise of leadership as either actual or potential:

• Actual - giving guidance or direction, as in the phrase "the

emperor has provided satisfactory leadership".

• Potential - the capacity or ability to lead, as in the phrase

"he could have exercised effective leadership"; or in the
concept "born to lead".

Leadership can have a formal aspect (as in most political or

business leadership) or an informal one (as in most friendships).

Our views:-
According to us Mr. Vinod Dayaramani Actual type of
leader who gives guidance for their subordinate. Speaking of
"leadership rather than of "leading" (the action) usually implies
that the entities doing the leading have some "leadership skills".

Arieu defines a leader as,

"someone able to inspire another
associate with a dream."
Leading of Leader

Leaders use different ways to motivate people. Some leader

emphasizes rewards –economic or otherwise. Leader who adopt
this practice are using positive leadership. In
contrast some leaders place greater emphasis
on penalties. Such an approach is described as
negative leadership.

In today’s world where employees are

better educated & are making increasing
demands for greater independence, positive
leadership yields better results in higher job satisfaction &
performance.

Manager’s who practice

negative leadership are more of
bosses than true leaders. They too
manage to get performance out of
their employees but the human
costs are very high. Negative
leaders are very dominating, they fire their subordinate in public &
use fear of loss of job & pay cut to get work done.

Our views:-
According to Mr. Vinod Dayaramani use a mix of positive
& negative style of leader.
Leading of Leader

It would be wrong to classify leader as purely positive or purely

negative in nature. Actually leadership style exists on a continuum
ranging from strongly positive strongly negative.

Autocratic style:

This leader is called an autocrat. He does not consult his

subordinates. He also takes full responsibility for his decisions.

 Democratic leader:
A Democratic leader involves the followers in the decision
making process. The leader is liberal. Subordinate have faith on
him. They respect & support him. Democratic style should be
followed when organization is a large on e where many
professional are working.

 Participative style:

This leader encourages his subordinates to take part in

decision making. The final decision is not taken by the leader
himself. It is taken by the group, i.e. by the leader & his
subordinates.

 Laissez-faire style:
This leader acts as a contact man. He provides information
& resources to his subordinate. He believes that the subordinates
Leading of Leader

will work best if they are left alone. He allows them to plan &
organize their own work.

 Bureaucratic leader:
This leader follows all the rules & a formality of the
organization. He does not believe in new ideas. He wants his
subordinates to follow all his orders. Bureaucratic leader is
noticeable in government-owned organization.

 Situational style:
This leader uses different style in different situations. That
is he changes his style according to the situation like market
scenario, follower mentality & maturity level etc. sometimes he
will be autocratic, sometimes he will be democratic etc. nowadays,
most managers use this style of leadership.

Our views:-
According to Mr. Vinod Dayaramani participative type of a
leader.

“Leadership is like moving a string. You cannot

move it by pushing from behind, you have to
get ahead & pull.”
Leading of Leader

A born leader is the person who is having

the leadership skill, abilities & attitudes
from his early childhood.

A person who has been turned into a

leader
because situation demands that, he is
known
as ‘made leader’.

Anyone can become this type of leader if he is interested &

determines to acquire all the skills & qualities required becomes a
leader.

Our views:-
According to Mr. Vinod Dayaramani made type of a leader.
In an organization, generally an individual selected as the leader
& leads his team to attain goals. They had to become leaders to
lead the business smoothly.

Conclusion
I conclude that being senior manager is a very hard work and
the one who has skill power and will power to handle the
situation can achieve the success in his future.

Mr. Vinod Dayaramani is an ordinary man but because of his will

power he has achieved a great success in his life. Every
youngster should take something from his as a teach.

“To lead people, walk beside them. As for

the best leader, the people do not notice
their existence. The next-best, the people
honors & praise. The next, the people fear, &
