identifies the musical characteristics of representative music selections from the
lowlands of Luzon after listening.
Explore:
Ask the student a question:
What are the musical traditions of the people in Luzon?
Play a song (OPM) familiar to the students; let them guess the song’s title or
continue singing the rest of the music until the music stops. Play other OPM
songs. This can be a contest between two groups. The group that gains the most
number of points wins. You can hand to the winning group a prize for
encouragement.
Trace with them the origin of OPM.
Have them note the qualities of the Philippine traditional music.
Make them distinguish the music from the lowlands from the music of the
highlands.
Firm Up:
Play the music Dangdang-Ay. Encourage them to think of movements they can
incorporate in the song.
Let them sing folk song properly.
Classify the music of Luzon as from the lowlands or the highlands.
Deepen:
Induce them to answer the activities on page 98-99.

Transfer:
Ask question to the student: Why is Philippine Traditional music is a melting pot
of musical cultures?
Students must demonstrate understanding of musical elements and processes of
Philippine music, particularly the music of Northern Luzon and the lowlands.

on their ideas/ insights.
Discuss with them the role of physical fitness in the development and attainment
of a healthy lifestyle and its inclusion in the Physical Education
curriculum/program.

Have them answer the activities on page 219.
Deepen:
Inspire them to document or do creative reporting of their fitness session with
their family.

325.
