(Nasdaq NM: SANM), and leading provider of data center open systems storage platforms,
today announced the release of two new 6 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage building blocks for its
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers to adopt and/or customize into their
storage solutions.

“We are pleased to announce the Newisys NDS-3160, a 3U-16-3.5” HDD solution, and the
Newisys NDS-2241, a 2U-24-2.5” HDD/SDD solution,” stated Naresh Nigam, Chief
Technology Officer, Sanmina-SCI. “By providing these two 6 Gb/s storage building blocks
today, our customers will be maximizing their investment for the future.”

Both units feature high efficiency redundant hot swap power/cooling modules, and support
either Single or Dual I/O controller configurations. Advanced features in the I/O controller
module will enable customers to select access to either all the hard disk drives (HDDs)
through one of the external standard serial attached SCSI (SAS) connections or provide only
a certain number of HDDs exclusively through a specific external SAS connection, also known
as “zoning.”

“Silicon and board-level products supporting 6 Gb/s SAS have emerged and Newisys believes
that it’s the right time to bring these two new system-level storage solutions to market,”
continued Mr. Nigam. “6 Gb/s SAS is the next generation of the technology standard. These
new products complement our first generation SAS NDS-2120, a 2U-12-3.5”, and NDS-2240,
a 2U-24-2.5”, HDD storage systems. 6 Gb/s SAS not only provides higher bandwidth than the
previous generation, but streamlines overheads in the low-level silicon components allowing
for greater IOPS to be achieved as well as additional infrastructure topology flexibility,”
concluded Mr. Nigam.

The Newisys NDS-3160 and Newisys NDS-2241 are already sampling to OEM customers.
