    Title: Design and Implementation of JPEG Encoder using VHDL
    Team Size: Four members
    Tools used: VHDL (Very hardware description language)
    Description:
    Uncompressed graphics, audio, video and data require considerable storage capacity
    and transmission bandwidth. These applications need more efficient way of encoding
    the data and images as well as capabilities of available technologies.
    Our project presents an image lossless compression methodology known as
    JPEG ENCODER which is used for data accessing and processing.
    JPEG compression scheme is divided into following stages:
     Transform the image into an optimal color space.
     Down sample chrominance components by averaging groups of pixels
    together.
     Apply a DCT to blocks of pixels, thus removing redundant image data.
     Quantize each block of DCT coefficients using weighting functions optimized
    for the human eye.
     Encode the resulting coefficients using a Huffman variable word length
    algorithm to remove redundancies in the coefficients.
    My role in our project is, I have implemented Huffman variable word length
    algorithm.
    Finally, we have implemented JPEG compression scheme using VHDL and
    successfully encoded the given data. The total time duration taken to complete is four
    months.
