COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course (for students in Business and Agriculture), is intended to provide students with
exposure to a variety of mathematical ideas with emphasis on real world applications. The course
covered a selection of topics including: sets, counting techniques, probability, and mathematics of
finance, matrices and linear programming.
PRE-REQUISITE
Math 107
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of course, the students shall be able to identify, define, describe, write, graph,
distinguish, solve, and optimize, problems involving: Sets, Multiplication rule, permutation,
combination, probability, conditioned probability, Binomial probability, Expected values, Break
even Analysis, Simple interest and discount, compound interest, annuity, Matrix operation,
optimization in linear programing.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD
Chalkboard demonstration, lecture, discussion, problem solving, inquiry (question and answer),
group work, assignment and test.
