UNIT 2 — THE PROCESS PARAGRAPH


Explanation
 Introduction

There are two common types of process paragraphs:

A paragraph that gives instructions for how to do something, for example, how to cook an egg.
1. A paragraph that explains how something works or happens, for example, how a

hurrrican happens.

In this unit you will learn how to write both types of process paragraph by following a basic paragraph formula.

By using this formula you will include the most important parts of a clear, organized paragraph.

Objectives

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

 identify real-life processes


 describe a process
 give instructions
 use imperative verb forms, modals, and passive verb forms to describe steps in a process
 use transitions to show sequence

 put steps in time order
