Course Title Introduction to Computers I
Course Credit Units (hrs/wk & hrs/sem) 3 units (5hrs/week)
Course Description This course introduces the computer fundamentals and functionalities. It also
presents the certain applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PPT, MS
Publisher and HTML which are incorporated with corresponding laboratory exercises.
Furthermore, it also discusses the Internet Basics and its uses.
Course Objectives At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
 Describe the basic concepts and terminology of Information and Communications
Technology
 Demonstrate the basic computer operations and its components
 Assemble and disassemble the basic parts of PC using the Virtual Desktop
Application
 Acquire basic skills and be able to use the computer application software such as MS
Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, and HTML
 Define, discuss, and identify the Network Fundamentals
 Apply, perform, and create projects and exercises using the application software
 Recognize and apply internet technologies
 Construct multimedia presentations using MS Power Point
 Build Homepage using HTML and MS Publisher

Course Requirements
Grading System 1. Attendance and Class Participation 15%
2. Major Exams 25%
3. Quizzes and Assignments 15%
4. Laboratory 25%
5. Hands-on Exams and Projects 20%
Classroom Policies 1. Attendance is a must. Incurring of three (3) consecutive unexcused absences shall
automatically be dropped from the class
2. Special exams are not allowed unless warranted by a valid reason
3. Use of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets is strictly prohibited
4. Projects and requirements must be submitted on or before the set deadline
5. Cheating during examination period is strictly prohibited
6. Lapsing of hands-on exams is not allowed
7. No eating and drinking inside the laboratory
8. Strictly observe rules and regulations in the use of the laboratory and its equipment
and facilities
9. Uploading and downloading of files from the workstation is strictly prohibited.
