    CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION
    1.1. Background
    Power electricity has a very important role to supporting the development of the area,
    especially to support the sectors of the construction of the other. The target of energy
    development is to provide the energy that is sufficient with a price that affordable by
    public.

    Along with the growth of the construction area and the other sectors, the energy
    request, especially electricity will continue to rise. The development of economic
    democracy will be further enhanced. Because of it, energy request in rural areas also
    will further increase.

    In order to supply the electricity in some areas that still lack electricity supply, PT PLN
    plans to develop a Coal Fired Steam Power Plant (CFSPP) with a capacity of 2 x 15
    MW in the East Belitung, precisely in the area of Air Kelik Village, Damar District,
    Belitung Timur Regency.

    To prepare the construction of the power plant, needs to be carried out site
    investigation in the field to support the manufacture of Feasibility Study Belitung Coal
    Fired Steam Power Plant (CFSPP) with the capacity of 2 x 15 MW.

    1.2. Purpose
    The purpose of the site investigation activities are as follow:

    1. Get an overview of the topographical condition of the survey area


    2. To obtain information about the type of soil/rock layers at the bottom surface,
    the power bearing and so forth.
    3. Get the parameter of geotechnical (index properties and engineering
    properties)
    4. To determine the condition of the topography under the sea, and get an
    overview of hydro-oceanography in the area of the survey .
    5. To find out the characteristics of the hydrodynamic properties

    1.3. Project Location


    Based on its geographical position, the location is in Air Kelik Village, Damar District,
    Belitung Timur Regency, Bangka Belitung Island. The location of Site Investigation is
    shown in Figure 1.1.

    1.4. Scope of Works


    The scope of works is shown in Table 1.1 below :
