Superlit Pipes & Coupling
Superlit Pipes & Coupling
Internal Layer & External Layer : The internal layer have a minimum thickness of 0,2
mm. This layer consists of %90 resin, %10 surface tissue. The raw material contents
and thicknesses are fixed for all DN, PN, SN class of SUPERLIT GRP FW pipes.
Liner Layer : The liner layer is a thermosetting resin rich layer forming the interior
layer of the pipe to give high corrosion resistance. The thickness of this layer have a
thickness of 0,8 mm. This layer consists of %60 resin, %40 glass fiber. The raw
material contents and thicknesses are fixed for all DN, PN, SN class of SUPERLIT
GRP FW pipes.
Structural layers & Core Layer : The composition of structural layers are also fixed
for all DN, PN, SN class of SUPERLIT GRP FW pipes. Structural layers consist of
glass fiber and resin, core layer consists of resin, glass fiber and silica sand. The layer
thicknesses change depending on DN, PN, SN class of SUPERLIT GRP FW pipes in
order to achieve satisfy required strength as per international standards EN 1796, EN
14364, ISO 10639 & ISO 10467.

Flow Rate
Recommended flow rate for the standard GRP pipe is 4 m/s maximum. Pipes
allowing a higher flow rate can be manufactured by special design.
Flow Coefficient
Ratings to be used in hydraulic calculations for SUPERLIT GRP pipes:
- Hazen–William flow coefficient: C = 150
- Manning coefficient: n = 0,009
- Colebrook–White coefficient;
k = 0.029 mm for the pipes manufactured by the continuous filament winding
method
k = 0.012 mm for the pipes manufactured by the centrifugal casting method
UV Resistance
Performance of GRP pipes is not negatively affected by UV rays. Observing color
changes on the surface, which do not affect the strength, is normal.
Poisson Ratio
Poisson ratio that can be used in standard engineering calculations for GRP pipes is
between 0.22 - 0.29.
Temperature
Service temperature of standard GRP pipes is between -40˚C and +35˚C. Special
pipes can be designed for service temperatures up to 50˚C.
Thermal Coefficient
Thermal expansion and contraction coefficient of SUPERLIT GRP pipes in axial
direction:

Benefits:
- Long Service Life:
Pipes are designed in compliance with the international standards to serve a
minimum of 50 years. Operating and maintenance costs are negligibly small.
- Safe connections:
SUPERLIT GRP pipe joints are designed with the flexible connection method, and the
sealing is provided by couplings having full-face integrated elastomeric seal.
- Lightweight:
It has approximately 1/4 the weight of steel pipes, approximately
1/5 of ductile pipes, and approximately 1/10
of concrete pipes.
- GRP pipes with varying diameters can be nested together and thus, more pipes can
be transported using less vehicles. This means the cost of transportation can be
lowered.
- Installation is fast and easy. Requires no special equipment for handling and
mounting. Being lightweight means easy installation, even for longer pipe lengths.

SUPERLIT Coupling (Full Faced Coupling)
Each length of SUPERLİT GRP Pipe shall be supplied with one SUPERLİT GRP
Coupling which has internal full faced rubber seal. This type of jointing, provides
more joint tightness and no risk for leakage of water. Every GRP pipe is connected
with a GRP full-face coupling.

Advantages
SUPERLİT GRP Couplings shall be delivered as mounted at the end of the GRP Pipes
providing that the following advantages: There is no need for welding and/or
joining of the couplings to the pipes at site, Easy Handling & Installation, Time
saving and finishing the installation quickly as the couplings have already mounted
to the pipes.
6
Deflections
Joints shall have allowable angular deflection values as per the following table:
