SUBJECT: REPLY TO EXPLANATION
Sir,
In compliance to your Office letter no. 2888, dated 08/07/2020, received from the
postman yesterday afternoon at my home address on 13/07/2020, in which I have been
directed to explain my position about the interpretation of my facebook post as “MISUSE OF
SOCIAL MEDIA RESOURCES”, the following explanation has duly been presented to
clarify my stance and the purpose:
My post was solemnly in response to the recent appreciable step of the present govt.
of conducting the interview of the Principals before their appointment, which I liked and
supported vehemently in a comparative perspective regarding the restoration of the
sovereignty of the merit, that is, in contrast to the unethical and immoral practices prevalent
in the past in general. In so doing, it was not at all my purpose to malign or insult any
particular person, office, or a community as a whole. Rather, it was just in accordance with
my foremost duty, as a Muslim, Pakistani, a teacher, a mentor, and a PhD scholar in
Linguistics and the Qur’an, to seek the attention of my community of lecturers and professors
to the undaunted tilt among the majority of our educational leaders towards ‘haraam” and
corruption by the use of political support and other foul means for getting their very position,
which empowers and facilitates them to commit more immoral acts, such as, injustice (e.g.,
unjust recruitments and nominations), favoritism, nepotism, and moral indecency.
The Holy Qur’an (3:110) puts it as a binding on all of us to enjoin al-Maruf/decency,
forbid al-Munkir/indecency, and believe in Allah ;ﷻwhereas, it is so sad that most of
our educational leaders commit just the opposite to all the three imperatives of the Qur’an;
and whenever, they are forbidden from doing indecent/unlawful acts or whenever, they turn
against the attention-seeker. Also, it is the PTI govt’s slogan to “SAY ‘NO’ TO
CORRUPTION’. Accordingly, I always sought the attention of my community to discourage
such acts for the sake of the good reputation and honour of the whole department. To me, the
issues have always been important than the individuals; therefore, it is evident that no
specific name, place and time was mentioned in my facebook post. Even then, at the
personalized anguish of a few KPPLA members over that post, I apprehended that a
misinterpretation was being done of my otherwise a positive message. So I deleted the post
right then that very day.
In view of the above-stated points, let me humbly assure your kind self that as a PhD
scholar, a teacher and mentor, and a practising Muslim first and foremost, I have always tried
to ensure my highest devotion to my professional and moral duties, with a great regard to the
good name of my college, department, and the country by and large, appreciating and
enjoining truth and justice as my moral and religious duty, and not at all intending or
indulging in any propaganda or mischief.
Yours Respectfully,
Muhammad Azmat,
Associate Professor of English,
GPGC, Haripur.
