Mount Carmel College, Autonomous
Mount Carmel College, Autonomous is owned and managed by the congregation of the Carmelite
Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST). The institution since 1948 has been working towards the cause of
“Empowering through Education”. With a student strength of over 7,500 the college is
recognized for value based quality education. Innovating and catering to the changing market
needs the college offers 41 undergraduate programs, 2 vocational degree B.Voc programs, 19
post graduate programs and doctoral programs.

Affiliated to Bengaluru Central University, MCC was granted autonomous status in 2005. The
college has successfully completed four rounds of accreditation by NAAC and was awarded “A+”
grade in its fourth round in 2019.
MCC is recognized as College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by UGC and is ranked among
the top twenty colleges in India by India Today and Week magazines.

Undergraduate Programs Eligibility


1. For all the UG programs in Humanities, B.Voc and BCA, pass in two year Pre-University
Examinations conducted by the Karnataka Pre-University Education Board or any other
examination considered as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission.
2. For all the UG programs in Science, A candidate who has passed the two year Pre-University
Examinations conducted by the Karnataka Pre-University Education Board or any other
examination considered as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission.

Generally a candidate to opt for a subject should have studied that subject at the qualifying
examination. Nutrition and Dietetics, Home Science, Biotechnology,

Microbiology, Electronics, Environmental Science, Computer Science, and Statistics may be


exceptions to this requirement.
Additional Conditions of Eligibility required for specific subjects are as follows:
a) A candidate to opt for Physics should have studied Mathematics in addition to Physics at
the qualifying examination.
b) A candidate to opt forStatistics should have studied that subject or Mathematics at the
qualifying examination.
c) A candidate to opt for Biotechnology, Botany, Environmental Science, Human
Development, Microbiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, or Zoology should have studied
that subject or Biology, and Chemistry at the qualifying examination
3. For UG program B.Com, Pass in the two year Pre-University Examinations conducted by
the Karnataka Pre-University Education Board or any other examination considered as
equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission. The candidate should have studied both
Business Studies and Accountancy in the qualifying examination.
4. For BBA, Pass in two- year Pre-University Course in Commerce/ Arts/ Science/ of
Karnataka Board or equivalent are eligible condition for admission.
5. For BA- Honours program in Communication Studies, first class pass in Class 12 or
equivalent and pass in entrance test is the eligibility condition.

Postgraduate Programs Eligibility

1. Pass in the qualifying UG examination with an aggregate of 50% marks in the core
subject is the eligibility criteria for all the PG programs in humanities and science.
2. Pass in the qualifying UG examination with an aggregate of 50% marks in all the
core subjects is the eligibility criteria for M.Com-Regular and M.Com- II.
3. Pass in the qualifying UG examination with an aggregate of 50% marks in any
subject is the eligibility criteria for M.Com- IB.
4. Pass in B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marksin
the core subjects in all the 3 years and Mathematics as a compulsory subject at
the +2 level is the eligibility criteria for MCA

Four-Year Integrated B.A-B.Ed & B.Sc-B.Ed


Combinations offered for B.Sc: PCM /CBZ

Eligibility:

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these Programs is a pass in Pre-University
Examination of Karnataka/ CBSE Senior Secondary examination/ or an equivalent
examination with 60% marks.

Candidates applying for B.Sc- B.Ed. Program must have studied all the three core subjects at
the PUC /10+2 level.
Combinations offered for B.A: HEP /HES
HEP: History, Economics, Political Science

HES: History, Economics, Sociology

Languages offered:

Language 1: General English

Language 2: Kannada or Hindi

Medium of Instruction: English

Eligibility:

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these programs is a pass in Pre-University
Examination of Karnataka/ CBSE Senior Secondary examination/ or an equivalent
examination with 60% marks.

Students applying for BA-B. Ed. must have studied English, Regional Language and any two
subjects, viz. History, Geography, Economics, Political Science and Sociology, at PUC/10+2
level.

Research Programs

the rules and regulations of Bangalore University/Bengaluru Central University.

Evening Courses
MCC offers the following one year PGDBA in the evening and weekend.
These courses are open to boys and girls. The specializations offered are:

General Instructions:
1. Application forms for admission for the academic year 2020-2021 will be
available ONLINE from March 2020 for PG Programs and UGPrograms.

5. Applications received after the last date will not be entertained.

6. Fees should be paid on the day of the interview. Fees once paid will not be
refunded under any circumstance.

7. Students are required to opt for the same Second language as was studied at the
previous qualifying Examination.

8. Documents to be kept ready while applying:

• A soft copy of the applicant’s recent passport size photo and signature to be
uploaded with the application.

Those who are claiming admission under reservation category must submit attested
copy of the caste/income certificate while submitting the hard copy of the application to
the admission office. (Validity up to 5 years)

Catholics should submit latest baptism certificate and Parish priest letter from the
respective church.
Differentially Abled Candidates should enclose a copy of disability or handicap
certificates issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner. Unique Disability Number (UDN)
issued by Central or State Government must be provided at the time of admission.

HOSTEL
Limited hostel facilities are available on campus for Students. Hostel
admission is based on merit. Kindly contact office for more details.
