1. INTRODUCTION
This document provides information on the release of the EDACS® 500M
radio flash software. The following table describes the EDACS 500M
software kit:

For radios used in Data applications, the radio must not be


programmed with a power-up system/group unless the power-up
system group will always be the desired system/group during

2. COMPATIBILITY
The EDACS 500M radio flash is compatible with ProGrammer™ (TQS3385)
R10A1.

3. INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

3.1 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS


• Personal computer meeting requirements of ProGrammer (TQS3385)
R10A or higher.
• Programming cable, part number RPM 113 2872/1.
• Programming Converter Box, part number TQ3370.

3.2 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
• ProGrammer software (R10A or higher), part number TQS3385.

3.3 DATA REQUIREMENTS


• Feature encryption number.

3.4 UPDATES
ProGrammer (TQS3385) software is responsible for installation updates and
loading of the EDACS 500M radio flash software.

4. NEW FEATURES/ENHANCEMENTS
Added ProFile™.

To use ProFile feature, Feature Encryption must be turned on.

5. SPECIAL PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
This procedure must be fully completed for each programming action before
beginning a subsequent programming action. Failure to follow this procedure
completely may result in partial or total corruption of Personality, Tracking
and/or Feature Data. Due to this possibility, read and save Tracking and
Feature Data to a file before any other programming action.

5.1 Programming Actions Affected


This procedure affects all programming actions for the EDACS 500M,
including:
• flash/personality insertion (using "ProGrammer")
• flash, only (using “Maintenance”)
• personality insertion (using "ProGrammer")
• personality read (using "ProGrammer")
• tracking data read (using "Maintenance")
• tracking data insertion (using "Maintenance")
• feature data read (using "Maintenance")
• feature data insertion (using "Maintenance")

5.2 PROCEDURE
Preparation for Programming
1. Turn the Volume/Power knob to the OFF position.
2. Connect Programming Cable (RPM 113 2872/1) to the radio.
3. Turn the Volume/Power knob to the ON position.
AlternateProcess:
3. Depress both + and Scan buttons while turning Volume/Power knob to
the ON position.
Programming
4. Perform one of the programming actions listed in section 5.1.
Return to Application Mode
5. Turn the Volume/Power knob to the OFF position.
6. Disconnect the Programming Cable (RPM 113 2872/1) from the radio.

7. Turn the Volume/Power knob to the ON position. (The radio will then be
in "application mode".)
Leave the radio on in application mode for at least 10 seconds before
beginning another programming action (and repeating this procedure, 1
through 7, for the next programming action).

6. PROBLEM RESOLUTIONS
No TRs were resolved in this revision of software.
