The document contains instructions for a mid-term exam in Engineering Mathematics-II at Bal Krishna Institute of Technology, Kota's Civil Engineering department. It includes 3 questions - the first asks students to state and prove the base theorem, the second asks them to calculate the probability of selecting 1 girl and 2 boys from groups of children, and the third asks them to find the joint and marginal probabilities of selecting red and green balls from a box. Students have 1.5 hours to complete all questions worth a total of 10 marks.

Q1 State and prove that base theorm. (2.5) Q2 Three groups of children contains 3 girls and 1 boy, 2 girls and 2 boys, 3 boys and 1 girl. One child is selected at random from each group. Show that the chance that 3 selected consists of 1 girl and 2 boys is 13 . (2.5) 32 Q3 Two balls are selected at random from a box containing three red, two green, and four white. If X and Y are the number of red balls and green balls respectively included among the two balls drawn from the box, find (5) (i) Joint probability of X and Y (iii) Conditional distribution of X given Y=1 (ii) Marginal probability of X and Y .
