PE Team Sports Syllabus

PE Team Sports:
This course is designed to motivate and teach students about health-related fitness, teamwork and fair
play. Team Sports reinforces the concept of incorporating physical activity into a lifestyle of improved
fitness and health. Sport activities that may be included are: flag football, volleyball, soccer, hockey,
lacrosse, softball, basketball, tennis, team handball, kickball, ultimate frisbee, pickleball, and badminton.
Our goal is to inspire you to have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become lifetime participants
and advocates of physical fitness.
Grades:
6 Formative: Daily Dress out/Participation, Daily Writes, and Assignments
● You will lose points daily for not participating or dressing out.
● Parents will be notified after the 4th time you do not dress out, participate or you are
tardy. After the 7th offense, there will be a parent conference.
● You will need a PE folder or notebook for your daily writes.
3 Summative: Assessments/Individual and Group Projects
● There will be 3 assessments each 6 weeks. Students will be assessed on their knowledge or
ability to show understanding of each skill designated for that 6 weeks.
Dress Out Attire: ​You will need to change from school attire into the appropriate workout
attire.
● Athletic shorts/leggings/pants, t-shirt, and athletic shoes
Daily Procedures:
Dress out, participate, be on time to gym in your assigned spot for attendance, have a PE folder or
notebook for daily writes, no gum, lock everything up, no phones during class, and know grading
procedures.
Sports that will be introduced:
● Volleyball
● Flag Football
● Racquet Sports (Tennis, Badminton, Pickleball)
● Basketball
● Soccer
● Ultimate Frisbee/Frisbee Golf
● Handball
FitnessGram: ​Each student will be tested once in the fall and once in the spring for the state mandated
fitnessgram assessment.
Class Expectations: ​Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Punctual, Be Prepared, Be Positive, and Be an
Encourager!
Injury: ​You must have a doctor's note to be excused from participating in class. To earn participation
points while injured, you are to take thorough notes during class.
Healthy Habits​: ​Choose healthy meals and snacks. Avoid greasy foods, lots of sugar, and cokes. Drink
lots of WATER!
