1. Define electrical elements; give its classification along with the typical
characteristics. Find the Equivalent current source for the given Source as show
in Figure

2. The following two resistor circuit is assembled in a parallel connection, as one

resistor runs parallel to the other. For this circuit, answer the following
questions.
i. What is the voltage drop across R1 in terms of i1 and R1?
ii. What is the voltage drop across R2 in terms of i2 and R2?
iii. What is the relationship between v1, v2, and V?
iv. What is the relationship between i1, V, and R1?
v. What is the relationship between i2, V, and R2?
vi. What is the relationship between I, i1, and i2?

3. Explain the voltage division rule. Using only passive elements and DC power
supply of 40V, design the circuit which can give the output voltage of the 20V.

8. Explain the behaviour of circuit in series resonance. A resistor, a variable iron
core inductor and a capacitor are connected across a 230V, 50Hz supply. By
varying the position of the iron core inside the inductor coil, its inductance is
changed. Maximum current of 5 A was obtained in the circuit by changing the
inductance of the coil. At that time the voltage across the capacitor was
measured at 800V. Calculate the value of circuit parameters.
9. Mention the analogy between magnetic and electric circuit.
10. A voltage of V=2 sin (2t+0) is applied across a resistance and inductance in
series. A current of 2 sin (2t-π/6) flows through the circuit. Calculate the value of
R & L of the circuit. Also calculate power and power factor.
11. A Y connected balanced three phase generator with an impedance of 5+2jΩ per
phase is connected to a star connected balanced load with a impedance of 4+9jΩ
per phase. The line joining the generator and the load has an impedance of 6+7jΩ
per phase. Assuming a positive sequence of the source voltages and that Van =
120 30 V. Find the line voltages and line currents.
