1 Overview

1.1 Functions and Features


This section describes the functions and features of ServiceCD 2.0.
ServiceCD 2.0 is a new, intelligent server boot DVD that provides operating system (OS)
installation and RAID configuration functions.
ServiceCD 2.0 has the following features:
l Helps you install OSs, including Windows Server, SLES, RHEL, VMware ESXi,
CentOS and Ubuntu, and related drivers.
l Provides consistent, wizard-based installation processes.
l Provides RAID configuration. The unified RAID configuration UI supports a variety of
RAID controller cards.

1.2 Application Description


This section describes the application scenarios of ServiceCD 2.0 and its requirements for
devices.
Observe the following:
l Only qualified personnel can use this tool.
l To obtain the latest version, visit SupportE.
l Verify that the software package is the same as the one provided at the website.

l Before using this tool, explain functions of this tool to the customer.
l Do not perform any maintenance operation without customers' written approval and
authorization.
l Do not send fault locating data of customers to a third party without customers' written
approval and authorization.
l Use this tool in accordance with the local laws and regulations.
l Before using ServiceCD 2.0, understand the hardware models and OS versions supported
by ServiceCD 2.0.
NOTE

l An operating systems (OS) cannot be installed on a network attached storage (NAS) device.
l When installing an OS on a local storage device, if the device is configured with a NAS device,
disconnect the NAS device first.
l To implement security control on system startup, enable the Power on Password option in BIOS.
After the option is enabled, the administrator password is required for logging in to the system.

ServiceCD 2.0 can be used to install OSs on ES3000 V3 NVMe disks.

NOTE
For details about how to install an OS on an ES3000 V3 NVMe disk, see ES3000 V3 NVMe PCIe SSD
V100R003 User Guide.

ServiceCD 2.0 supports RAID configuration and OS installation on V3 servers through


Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), Table 1-1 lists the OSs that support the UEFI.

2 Installing an OS

2.1 Preparing for Installation


This section describes how to prepare for installing an OS.
Before you install an OS using ServiceCD 2.0, make preparations as follows:
l Perform the following operations when you install an OS remotely using the Virtual
Console:
– Obtain a PC running Windows, which is used to access the server.
– Log in to SupportE, choose the required server model, and download the
compatibility list of the server.
– Obtain the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD or ISO file.
– Obtain the OS installation DVD or ISO file of the OS to be installed.
– Obtain a physical DVD drive if you use a DVD for installation.
– Ensure that RAID configuration has been completed on the server where the OS is
to be installed.
l Perform the following operations when you install an OS using a keyboard, video, and
mouse (KVM):
– Prepare a KVM, which is used to access the server.
– Log in to SupportE, choose the required server model, and download the
compatibility list of the server.
– Obtain the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD.
– Obtain the OS installation DVD.
– Obtain a physical DVD drive.
– Ensure that RAID configuration has been completed on the server where the OS is
to be installed.

NOTICE
l Back up data on a hard disk before you install an OS on the disk using ServiceCD 2.0
because the hard disk will be formatted during installation.
l In Legacy mode, install the OS on a hard disk of less than 2 TB.

2.2 Installing a Windows OS


This section describes how to install a Windows OS in default mode and custom mode.

The default mode allows you to set a handful of parameters such as the password, language,
and time zone, whereas the custom mode allows you to set more parameters.

2.2.1 Installing a Windows OS in Default Mode

Scenario
Install a Windows OS on a server using ServiceCD 2.0 in default mode.

Preparations
l Prerequisites
No special condition is required for this operation.
l Data
Obtain the following data before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
– Operations are to be performed on a blade server:
n IP address and subnet mask of the management network port on the
management module (MM)
n User name and password for logging in to the MM
– Operations are to be performed on a rack server or a high-density server:
n IP address and subnet mask for the iMana or iBMC management network port
n User name and password for logging in to iMana or iBMC
l Tools
– Prepare the following tools before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
n PC running Windows
n Physical DVD drive if you use a DVD for installation
– Prepare the following tools before installing the OS by using the KVM:
n KVM
n Physical DVD drive
l Software
– Obtain the following software before remotely installing the OS by using the
Virtual Console:

n ServiceCD 2.0 DVD or ISO file


n Installation DVD or ISO file of the OS to be installed
– Obtain the following software before installing the OS by using the KVM:
n ServiceCD 2.0 DVD
n Installation DVD of the OS to be installed

Procedure
Step 1 Connect to the server.
1. Connect a PC or KVM to the server.
– If you use a PC, connect the PC to the management network port of the server. Then
go to Step 2.1.
– If you use a KVM, connect the KVM to the server. Then go to Step 3.3.
Step 2 Log in to the Virtual Console of the server.
1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual
Console of a Server.
Step 3 Restart the server.
1. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Yes.
The server restarts.
Then go to Step 4.1.
3. Use the power button on the server to power on or restart the server.
Step 4 Configure the BIOS.
1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.
2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Select the Main tab.
The Main screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-1.

4. Choose System Time and press Enter.


To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,
minute, and second respectively.
5. Choose System Date and press Enter.
To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system date is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy (mm, dd, and yyyy indicate the month, day, and
year respectively).
6. Choose Boot > Legacy and press Enter.
The Boot Device Priority screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-2.

7. Select Boot Type Order and press Enter.


The Boot Type Order screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-3.
NOTE
The default boot sequence is as follows: Hard Disk Drive > CD/DVD-ROM Drive > BEV >
Others.

8. Select Hard Disk Drive and press F5 or F6 to move Hard Disk Drive to the top of the
boot option list.
– Press F5 to move down a boot option.

The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the

9. Press F10 to save the settings.
The system displays Exit Saving changes?.
10. Select Yes to save the settings and restart the server.
Step 5 Mount ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file, go to Step 5.3.
2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-4.

4. Select Image File and click Browse.


The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes to Disconnect, the virtual DVD drive is connected to the server,
as shown in Figure 2-5.

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.
– If yes, go to Step 6.2.
– If no, go to Step 6.4.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Yes.
The server restarts.

Then go to Step 7.1.


4. Use the power button on the server to restart the server.

Step 7 Choose a boot device.


1. Press F11 upon server startup.
The Boot Manager screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-6.

2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Determine the DVD drive to be used.
– If you use the physical DVD drive, go to Step 7.4.
– If you use the virtual DVD drive, go to Step 7.5.

4. Select the physical DVD drive (for example, TEAC DV-28E-V) from which you want to
boot, and press Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-7.
NOTE
The DVD drive name varies according to the DVD drive model.

Then go to Step 8.1.


5. Select the virtual DVD drive (for example, HUAWEI DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0), and press
Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-7.
Step 8 Load ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Select FusionServer Tools-ServiceCD2.0 Vxxx and press Enter.
The system starts to load ServiceCD 2.0.
After ServiceCD 2.0 is loaded, the ServiceCD 2.0 welcome window is displayed, as
shown in Figure 2-8.

– To view ServiceCD 2.0 run logs during the operation process, click in the upper right

corner. To export logs to a USB device on the server, click in the log window. To
exit the log window, press Esc.

Step 9 Install a Windows OS.

NOTICE
Back up data on a hard disk before you install an OS on the disk using ServiceCD 2.0 because
the hard disk will be formatted during installation.

1. Click the Install OS icon.


The OS installation window is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-10.

NOTE
Before installing an OS on a server, check the server compatibility list and ensure that the server
supports the OS.
2. Click Next.
The window for selecting an OS version is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-11.
Select Default Mode, and select the OS to be installed and its version.

The selected OS version must be the same as that in the installation DVD or ISO file.
3. Click Next.

NOTICE
If hardware firmware versions (for example, the versions of NIC and RAID controller
card firmware) on the server are incompatible with the version of the OS to be installed,
the dialog box shown in Figure 2-12 is displayed. Click Yes.
Upgrade the firmware shown in the following figure to the target versions.

4. Set the system partition size and click Next.

6. Enter the password of the Administrator user in the Password and Computer Name
text boxes, enter the server name in the Computer Name text box, enter the product key,
and click Next.
The window for selecting a language, keyboard, and time zone is displayed, as shown in
Figure 2-16.

7. Select a language, keyboard, and time zone, and click Next.

8. After you confirm that the configuration is correct, click Next.


The system starts to copy drivers and configuration files from ServiceCD 2.0.
After the copying is complete, the window shown in Figure 2-18 is displayed,
prompting you to insert the OS media.

NOTE

– The copying takes several minutes, depending on the network status.


– If you select the Skip the checking of the operating system media check box, the system skips
the check of the OS DVD or ISO file. However, an incorrect OS DVD or ISO file version will
result in an OS installation failure.

Step 10 Load the OS.


1. Select the medium of the OS to be installed.
– If you use an OS DVD, go to Step 10.2.
– If you use an OS ISO file, go to Step 10.3.
2. Insert the installation DVD of the OS to be installed into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 10.7.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-19.

4. Click Browse.
The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ISO file of the OS to be installed, and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Insert.
When Insert changes to Eject, the OS ISO file has been successfully loaded.
7. Click Next.
The installation starts, as shown in Figure 2-20.

– The server automatically restarts several times during the installation. Wait until the

2.2.2 Installing a Windows OS in Custom Mode


Scenario
Install a Windows Server OS on a server using ServiceCD 2.0 in custom mode.

Preparations
l Prerequisites
No special condition is required for this operation.
l Data
Obtain the following data before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
– Operations are to be performed on a blade server:
n IP address and subnet mask of the management network port on the MM
n User name and password for logging in to the MM
– Operations are to be performed on a rack server or a high-density server:
n IP address and subnet mask for the iMana or iBMC management network port
n User name and password for logging in to iMana or iBMC
l Tools
– Prepare the following tools before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
n PC running Windows
n Physical DVD drive if you use a DVD for installation
– Prepare the following tools before installing the OS by using the KVM:
n KVM
n Physical DVD drive
l Software
– Obtain the following software before remotely installing the OS by using the
Virtual Console:
n ServiceCD 2.0 DVD or ISO file
n Installation DVD or ISO file of the OS to be installed
– Obtain the following software before installing the OS by using the KVM:
n ServiceCD 2.0 DVD
n Installation DVD of the OS to be installed

Procedure
Step 1 Connect to the server.
1. Connect a PC or KVM to the server.
– If you use a PC, connect the PC to the management network port of the server. Then
go to Step 2.1.
– If you use a KVM, connect the KVM to the server. Then go to Step 3.3.
Step 2 Log in to the Virtual Console of the server.

1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual
Console of a Server.
Step 3 Restart the server.
1. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Yes.
The server restarts.
Then go to Step 4.1.
3. Use the power button on the server to power on or restart the server.
Step 4 Configure the BIOS.
1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.
2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Select the Main tab.
The Main screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-21.

4. Choose System Time and press Enter.


To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.

The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,

5. Choose System Date and press Enter.
To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system date is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy (mm, dd, and yyyy indicate the month, day, and
year respectively).
6. Choose Boot > Legacy and press Enter.
The Boot Device Priority screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-22.

7. Select Boot Type Order and press Enter.


The Boot Type Order screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-23.
NOTE
The default boot sequence is as follows: Hard Disk Drive > CD/DVD-ROM Drive > BEV >
Others.

4. Select Image File and click Browse.

12. If a secondary partition of 1 GB and of the System type exists in the system, click
Delete. Then click Yes in the displayed confirmation dialog box.
Delete this secondary partition, as shown in Figure 2-42.

13. Select the hard disk where the deleted secondary partition was located, and click New.
Create system partitions, as shown in Figure 2-43.

16. After the OS is installed, set the password for the Administrator user as prompted.
NOTE

– When you log in to the OS as the Administrator user for the first time, the system drivers are
automatically installed, as shown in Figure 2-46.
– After the drivers are installed, the server automatically restarts for the drivers to take effect

17. After the server restarts, log in to the OS as the Administrator user. The OS installation
is complete.
NOTE
The ServiceCD.log file in the updates folder under drive C records the installation process.

2.3 Installing an SLES OS


This section describes how to install an SLES OS in default mode and custom mode.

2.3.1 Installing an SLES OS in Default Mode

Scenario
Install an SLES OS on a server using ServiceCD 2.0 in default mode.
NOTE
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) does not support the automatic driver installation of mezzanine
cards (including MZ610, MZ611, MZ612, MZ613, MZ310, MZ311, and MZ710) with Mellanox
ConnectX-3 chips. If you need to install these mezzanine card drivers, download the latest mezzanine
card drivers under FusionServer iDriver, and manually install them after the system is installed.

Preparations
l Prerequisites
No special condition is required for this operation.
l Data
Obtain the following data before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
– Operations are to be performed on a blade server:
n IP address and subnet mask of the management network port on the MM
n User name and password for logging in to the MM
– Operations are to be performed on a rack server or a high-density server:
n IP address and subnet mask for the iMana or iBMC management network port
n User name and password for logging in to iMana or iBMC
l Tools
– Prepare the following tools before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
n PC running Windows
n Physical DVD drive if you use a DVD for installation
– Prepare the following tools before installing the OS by using the KVM:
n KVM
n Physical DVD drive
l Software
– Obtain the following software before remotely installing the OS by using the
Virtual Console:
n ServiceCD 2.0 DVD or ISO file
n Installation DVD or ISO file of the OS to be installed
– Obtain the following software before installing the OS by using the KVM:
n ServiceCD 2.0 DVD
n Installation DVD of the OS to be installed

Procedure
Step 1 Connect to the server.
1. Connect a PC or KVM to the server.
– If you use a PC, connect the PC to the management network port of the server. Then
go to Step 2.1.
– If you use a KVM, connect the KVM to the server. Then go to Step 3.3.
Step 2 Log in to the Virtual Console of the server.
1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual
Console of a Server.
Step 3 Restart the server.
1. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.

2. Click Yes.
The server restarts.

Then go to Step 4.1.


3. Use the power button on the server to power on or restart the server.

Step 4 Configure the BIOS.


1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.
2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Select the Main tab.
The Main screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-47.

4. Choose System Time and press Enter.


To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,
minute, and second respectively.

5. Choose System Date and press Enter.


To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system date is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy (mm, dd, and yyyy indicate the month, day, and
year respectively).
6. Choose Boot > Legacy and press Enter.
The Boot Device Priority screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-48.

7. Select Boot Type Order and press Enter.


The Boot Type Order screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-49.
NOTE
The default boot sequence is as follows: Hard Disk Drive > CD/DVD-ROM Drive > BEV >
Others.

8. Select Hard Disk Drive and press F5 or F6 to move Hard Disk Drive to the top of the
boot option list.
– Press F5 to move down a boot option.
– Press F6 to move up a boot option.
NOTE
The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the
last boot option.
9. Press F10 to save the settings.
The system displays Exit Saving changes?.
10. Select Yes to save the settings and restart the server.

Step 5 Mount ServiceCD 2.0.


1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file, go to Step 5.3.
2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-50.

4. Select Image File and click Browse.


The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes to Disconnect, the virtual DVD drive is connected to the server,
as shown in Figure 2-51.

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.
– If yes, go to Step 6.2.
– If no, go to Step 6.4.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Yes.
The server restarts.
Then go to Step 7.1.
4. Use the power button on the server to restart the server.
Step 7 Choose a boot device.
1. Press F11 upon server startup.
The Boot Manager screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-52.

2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Determine the DVD drive to be used.
– If you use the physical DVD drive, go to Step 7.4.
– If you use the virtual DVD drive, go to Step 7.5.
4. Select the physical DVD drive (for example, TEAC DV-28E-V) from which you want to
boot, and press Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-53.
NOTE
The DVD drive name varies according to the DVD drive model.

Then go to Step 8.1.


5. Select the virtual DVD drive (for example, HUAWEI DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0), and press
Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-53.
Step 8 Load ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Select FusionServer Tools-ServiceCD2.0 Vxxx and press Enter.
The system starts to load ServiceCD 2.0.
After ServiceCD 2.0 is loaded, the ServiceCD 2.0 welcome window is displayed, as
shown in Figure 2-54.

2. Click Start in the lower right corner.

– To view ServiceCD 2.0 run logs during the operation process, click in the upper right

corner. To export logs to a USB device on the server, click in the log window. To
exit the log window, press Esc.

– To view help information, click in the upper right corner or press F1. To exit the help
information window, press Esc.

Step 9 Install an SLES OS.

NOTICE
Back up data on a hard disk before you install an OS on the disk using ServiceCD 2.0 because
the hard disk will be formatted during installation.

1. Click the Install OS icon.


The OS installation window is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-56.

NOTE
Before installing an OS on a server, check the server compatibility list and ensure that the server
supports the OS.
2. Click Next.
The window for selecting an OS version is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-57.
Select Default Mode, and select the OS to be installed and its version.

NOTE
The selected OS version must be the same as that in the installation DVD or ISO file.
3. Click Next.

NOTICE
If hardware firmware versions (for example, the versions of NIC and RAID controller
card firmware) on the server are incompatible with the version of the OS to be installed,
the dialog box shown in Figure 2-58 is displayed. Click Yes.
Upgrade the firmware shown in the following figure to the target versions.

The Select Disk window is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-59.

NOTE

– By default, ServiceCD 2.0 selects the bootable hard disk as the hard disk where the OS is to be
installed. The server using an LSI RAID controller card allows another hard disk to be
selected.
– During the installation process, ServiceCD 2.0 sets the selected hard disk as the boot device.
4. Select the hard disk where the OS is to be installed, and click Next.
The dialog box shown in Figure 2-60 is displayed.

5. Click Yes.
The window for setting the password for the root user is displayed, as shown in Figure
2-61.

– The parameters with * must be specified.


– The password must contain at least six characters.
6. Enter the password of the root user in the Password and Confirm Password text boxes,
and click Next.
The window for selecting a language, keyboard, and time zone is displayed, as shown in
Figure 2-62.

7. Select a language, keyboard, and time zone, and click Next.
The configuration summary window is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-63.

8. Confirm the configuration and click Next.


The system starts to copy drivers and configuration files from ServiceCD 2.0. After the
copying is complete, the window shown in Figure 2-64 is displayed, prompting you to
insert the OS media.

NOTE

– The copying takes several minutes, depending on the network status.


– If you select the Skip the checking of the operating system media check box, the system
skips the check of the OS DVD or ISO file. However, an incorrect OS DVD or ISO file
version will result in an OS installation failure.

Step 10 Load the OS.


1. Select the medium of the OS to be installed.
– If you use an OS DVD, go to Step 10.2.
– If you use an OS ISO file, go to Step 10.3.
2. Insert the installation DVD of the OS to be installed into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step Step 10.7.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-65.

4. Click Browse.
The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ISO file of the OS to be installed, and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Insert.
When Insert changes to Eject, the OS ISO file has been successfully loaded.
7. Click Next.
The installation starts, as shown in Figure 2-66.

– The server automatically restarts several times during the installation. Wait until the
installation is complete.
– The ServiceCD.log file in the /tmp/ folder records the installation process.

3. Click Next.

The system starts to copy drivers and configuration files from ServiceCD 2.0.
After the copying is complete, the window shown in Figure 2-81 is displayed,
prompting you to insert the OS media.

– The copying takes several minutes, depending on the network status.


– If you select the Skip the checking of the operating system media check box, the system
skips the check of the OS DVD or ISO file. However, an incorrect OS DVD or ISO file

Step 10 Load the OS.


1. Select the medium of the OS to be installed.
– If you use an OS DVD, go to Step 10.2.
– If you use an OS ISO file, go to Step 10.3.
2. Insert the installation DVD of the OS to be installed into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 10.7.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .

11. Under the Hard Disks node in the navigation tree, select the partition of 1 GB and of the
FAT file system format (the partition name is related to the hard disk name selected in
Step 9.3) and click Delete, as shown in Figure 2-87. Then click Yes in the displayed
confirmation dialog box.
The secondary partition is deleted.

Scenario
Install an RHEL/CentOS OS on a server using ServiceCD 2.0 in default mode.
NOTE
RHEL/CentOS does not support the automatic driver installation of mezzanine cards (including MZ610,
MZ611, MZ612, MZ613, MZ310, MZ311, and MZ710) with Mellanox ConnectX-3 and Mellanox
ConnectX-4 chips. If you need to install these mezzanine card drivers, download the latest mezzanine
card drivers under FusionServer iDriver, and manually install them after the system is installed.

8. Select Hard Disk Drive and press F5 or F6 to move Hard Disk Drive to the top of the
boot option list.
– Press F5 to move down a boot option.
– Press F6 to move up a boot option.

The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the
last boot option.
9. Press F10 to save the settings.
The system displays Exit Saving changes?.
10. Select Yes to save the settings and restart the server.

Step 5 Mount ServiceCD 2.0.


1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file, go to Step 5.3.
2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.

1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.

2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.

Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.
– If yes, go to Step 6.2.
– If no, go to Step 6.4.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.

The server restarts.

Then go to Step 7.1.

boot, and press Enter.

The system starts to copy drivers and configuration files from ServiceCD 2.0.

After the copying is complete, the window shown in Figure 2-126 is displayed,
prompting you to insert the OS media.

– The copying takes several minutes, depending on the network status.


– If you select the Skip the checking of the operating system media check box, the system
skips the check of the OS DVD or ISO file. However, an incorrect OS DVD or ISO file
version will result in an OS installation failure.

Step 10 Load the OS.


1. Select the medium of the OS to be installed.
– If you use an OS DVD, go to Step 10.2.
– If you use an OS ISO file, go to Step 10.3.
2. Insert the installation DVD of the OS to be installed into the physical DVD-ROM drive.

Step 2 Log in to the Virtual Console of the server.
1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual

Step 3 Restart the server.
1. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Yes.
The server restarts.
Then go to Step 4.1.
3. Use the power button on the server to power on or restart the server.
Step 4 Configure the BIOS.
1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.

3. Select the Main tab.

To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.

The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,
minute, and second respectively.
5. Choose System Date and press Enter.
To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the

– Press - to decrease the value by 1.

Procedure
Step 1 Connect to the server.
1. Connect a PC or KVM to the server.
– If you use a PC, connect the PC to the management network port of the server. Then
go to Step 2.1.
– If you use a KVM, connect the KVM to the server. Then go to Step 3.3.
Step 2 Log in to the Virtual Console of the server.
1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual
Console of a Server.
Step 3 Restart the server.
1. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Yes.
The server restarts.
Then go to Step 4.1.
3. Use the power button on the server to power on or restart the server.
Step 4 Configure the BIOS.
1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.
2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Select the Main tab.
The Main screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-156.

4. Choose System Time and press Enter.


To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,
minute, and second respectively.
5. Choose System Date and press Enter.
To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system date is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy (mm, dd, and yyyy indicate the month, day, and
year respectively).
6. Choose Boot > Legacy and press Enter.
The Boot Device Priority screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-157.

7. Select Boot Type Order and press Enter.

The default boot sequence is as follows: Hard Disk Drive > CD/DVD-ROM Drive > BEV >

8. Select Hard Disk Drive and press F5 or F6 to move Hard Disk Drive to the top of the
boot option list.
– Press F5 to move down a boot option.
– Press F6 to move up a boot option.
NOTE
The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the
last boot option.
9. Press F10 to save the settings.
The system displays Exit Saving changes?.
10. Select Yes to save the settings and restart the server.
Step 5 Mount ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file, go to Step 5.3.
2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-159.

4. Select Image File and click Browse.


The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes to Disconnect, the virtual DVD drive is connected to the server,
as shown in Figure 2-160.

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.
– If yes, go to Step 6.2.
– If no, go to Step 6.4.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Yes.
The server restarts.

Then go to Step 7.1.


4. Use the power button on the server to restart the server.

Step 7 Choose a boot device.


1. Press F11 upon server startup.
The Boot Manager screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-161.

2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Determine the DVD drive to be used.
– If you use the physical DVD drive, go to Step 7.4.

4. Select the physical DVD drive (for example, TEAC DV-28E-V) from which you want to
boot, and press Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-162.

The DVD drive name varies according to the DVD drive model.

Then go to Step 8.1.


5. Select the virtual DVD drive (for example, HUAWEI DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0), and press
Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-162.
Step 8 Load ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Select FusionServer Tools-ServiceCD2.0 Vxxx and press Enter.
The system starts to load ServiceCD 2.0.
After ServiceCD 2.0 is loaded, the ServiceCD 2.0 welcome window is displayed, as
shown in Figure 2-163.

Step 9 Install a VMware OS.

NOTICE
Back up data on a hard disk before you install an OS on the disk using ServiceCD 2.0 because
the hard disk will be formatted during installation.

1. Click the Install OS icon.

– The customized installation for Vmware of different versions may be different. VMware

3. Click Next.

NOTICE
If hardware firmware versions (for example, the versions of NIC and RAID controller
card firmware) on the server are incompatible with the version of the OS to be installed,
the dialog box shown in Figure 2-167 is displayed. Click Yes.
Upgrade the firmware shown in the following figure to the target versions.

installed. The server using an LSI RAID controller card allows another hard disk to be

4. Select the hard disk where the OS is to be installed, and click Next.

The system starts to copy drivers and configuration files from ServiceCD 2.0.

After the copying is complete, the window shown in Figure 2-170 is displayed,
prompting you to insert the OS media.

– The copying takes several minutes, depending on the network status.


– If you select the Skip the checking of the operating system media check box, the system
skips the check of the OS DVD or ISO file. However, an incorrect OS DVD or ISO file
version will result in an OS installation failure.

Step 10 Load the OS.


1. Select the medium of the OS to be installed.
– If you use an OS DVD, go to Step 10.2.
– If you use an OS ISO file, go to Step 10.3.
2. Insert the installation DVD of the OS to be installed into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 10.7.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-171.

4. Click Browse.
The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ISO file of the OS to be installed, and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Insert.
When Insert changes to Eject, the OS ISO file has been successfully loaded.
7. Click Next.
The installation preparation starts, as shown in Figure 2-172.

This section describes how to install an Ubuntu OS in default mode and custom mode.

2.6.1 Installing an Ubuntu OS in Default Mode

Scenario
Install an Ubuntu OS on a server using ServiceCD 2.0 in default mode.

Preparations
l Prerequisites
No special condition is required for this operation.
l Data
Obtain the following data before remotely installing the OS by using the Virtual
Console:
– Operations are to be performed on a blade server:
n IP address and subnet mask of the management network port on the
management module (MM)
n User name and password for logging in to the MM
– Operations are to be performed on a rack server or a high-density server:

ServiceCD2.0 is used to install Ubuntu, the installation program will automatically
install Ubuntu on the first disk. The selected disk may not be a system disk. Therefore,
you need to back up disk data before the installation.

4. Select the hard disk where the OS is to be installed, and click Next.

1. Select the medium of the OS to be installed.

Procedure

– If you use a KVM, connect the KVM to the server. Then go to Step 3.3.

Step 2 Log in to the Virtual Console of the server.


1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual
Console of a Server.

Step 3 Restart the server.


1. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
2. Click Yes.
The server restarts.

Then go to Step 4.1.


3. Use the power button on the server to power on or restart the server.

Step 4 Configure the BIOS.


1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.
2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.

To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,
minute, and second respectively.
5. Choose System Date and press Enter.
To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system date is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy (mm, dd, and yyyy indicate the month, day, and

8. Select Hard Disk Drive and press F5 or F6 to move Hard Disk Drive to the top of the
boot option list.
– Press F5 to move down a boot option.
– Press F6 to move up a boot option.
NOTE
The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the
last boot option.
9. Press F10 to save the settings.
The system displays Exit Saving changes?.
10. Select Yes to save the settings and restart the server.
Step 5 Mount ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file, go to Step 5.3.
2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-204.

4. Select Image File and click Browse.


The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.

as shown in Figure 2-205.

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.
– If yes, go to Step 6.2.
– If no, go to Step 6.4.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.

3. Click Yes.
The server restarts.

Then go to Step 7.1.


4. Use the power button on the server to restart the server.

Step 7 Choose a boot device.


1. Press F11 upon server startup.

3. Determine the DVD drive to be used.

4. Select the physical DVD drive (for example, TEAC DV-28E-V) from which you want to
boot, and press Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-207.

The DVD drive name varies according to the DVD drive model.

Then go to Step 8.1.


5. Select the virtual DVD drive (for example, HUAWEI DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0), and press
Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-207.
Step 8 Load ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Select FusionServer Tools-ServiceCD2.0 Vxxx and press Enter.
The system starts to load ServiceCD 2.0.
After ServiceCD 2.0 is loaded, the ServiceCD 2.0 welcome window is displayed, as
shown in Figure 2-208.

Step 9 Install an Ubuntu OS.

NOTICE
Back up data on a hard disk before you install an OS on the disk using ServiceCD 2.0 because
the hard disk will be formatted during installation.

1. Click the Install OS icon.


The OS installation window is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-210.

2. Click Next.

ServiceCD2.0 is used to install Ubuntu, the installation program will automatically
install Ubuntu on the first disk. The selected disk may not be a system disk. Therefore,
you need to back up disk data before the installation.

4. Select the hard disk where the OS is to be installed, and click Next.
The dialog box shown in Figure 2-213 is displayed.

5. Click Yes.
The system starts to copy drivers and configuration files from ServiceCD 2.0.

After the copying is complete, the window shown in Figure 2-214 is displayed,
prompting you to insert the OS media.

– If you use an OS ISO file, go to Step 10.3.

2.7.1 Updating Drivers (Windows)

– The Windows OS of which the drivers are to be updated has been installed.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the OS of which the drivers are to be updated.
1. Log in to the Virtual Console of the server. For details, see Logging In to the Virtual
Console of a Server.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Yes.
The server is restarted. After the restart is complete, the server automatically accesses the
OS.
Step 2 Insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD or locate the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file.
Step 3 Double-click the ServiceCD 2.0 installer.

Step 3 Switch to the directory, in which the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD is located.
NOTE
Generally, the system automatically mounts the media directory after the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD is
inserted. You can also run the mount /dev/cdrom /media command to mount the media directory. Then
run the cd /media/SERVICECD2.0 command to switch to the directory in which the ServiceCD2.0
DVD is located.

Step 4 Run the following command to run the driver installation program, as shown in Figure 2-238.

3 Configuring RAID

3.1 Preparing for Configuration


This section describes how to prepare for configuring RAID.
Before configuring RAID by using ServiceCD 2.0, make preparations as follows:
l To remotely configure RAID using the Virtual Console:
– Obtain a PC running Windows, which is used to access the server.
– Log in to SupportE, choose the required server model, and download the
compatibility list of the server.
– Obtain the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file.

Step 4 Configure the BIOS.
1. Press Del upon server startup, and enter a password when prompted.
The InsydeH20 Setup Utility screen is displayed.
2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Select the Main tab.
The Main screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-1.

4. Choose System Time and press Enter.


To switch among the hour, minute, and second, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system time is in the hh:mm:ss format in the 24-hour system. hh, mm, and ss indicate the hour,
minute, and second respectively.
5. Choose System Date and press Enter.
To switch among the month, day, and year, press Enter. To change the time, use the
following methods:
– Press + to increase the value by 1.
– Press - to decrease the value by 1.
– Press a number key to change the value directly.
NOTE
The system date is in the format of mm/dd/yyyy (mm, dd, and yyyy indicate the month, day, and
year respectively).
6. Choose Boot > Legacy and press Enter.
The Boot Device Priority screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-2.

7. Select Boot Type Order and press Enter.


The Boot Type Order screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-3.
NOTE
The default boot sequence is as follows: Hard Disk Drive > CD/DVD-ROM Drive > BEV >
Others.

8. Select Hard Disk Drive and press F5 or F6 to move Hard Disk Drive to the top of the
boot option list.
– Press F5 to move down a boot option.
– Press F6 to move up a boot option.
NOTE
The one at the top of the boot option list is the first boot option, and the one at the bottom is the
last boot option.
9. Press F10 to save the settings.
The system displays Exit Saving changes?.
10. Select Yes to save the settings and restart the server.
Step 5 Mount ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Determine the ServiceCD 2.0 media to be used.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD, go to Step 5.2.
– If you use the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file, go to Step 5.3.
2. Check whether the server is configured with a DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
– If yes, insert the ServiceCD 2.0 DVD into the physical DVD-ROM drive.
Then go to Step 6.1.

3. On the toolbar of the remote control screen, click .


The virtual DVD drive dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-4.

4. Select Image File and click Browse.


The Open dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the ServiceCD 2.0 ISO file and click Open.
6. In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes to Disconnect, the virtual DVD drive is connected to the server,
as shown in Figure 3-5.

Step 6 Restart the server.


1. Determine whether to use the Virtual Console.
– If yes, go to Step 6.2.
– If no, go to Step 6.4.
2. On the toolbar, click and select Reset or Forced System Reset to restart the server.
The confirmation dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Yes.
The server restarts.

Then go to Step 7.1.


4. Use the power button on the server to restart the server.

Step 7 Choose a boot device.


1. Press F11 upon server startup.
The Boot Manager screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-6.

2. If a dialog box prompting you to enter a password is displayed during the startup
process, enter a password as prompted.
The default password is Huawei12#$.
3. Determine the DVD drive to be used.
– If you use the physical DVD drive, go to Step 7.4.
– If you use the virtual DVD drive, go to Step 7.5.

4. Select the physical DVD drive (for example, TEAC DV-28E-V) from which you want to
boot, and press Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-7.

The DVD drive name varies according to the DVD drive model.

Then go to Step 8.1.


5. Select the virtual DVD drive (for example, HUAWEI DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0), and press
Enter.
The initial ServiceCD 2.0 screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-7.
Step 8 Load ServiceCD 2.0.
1. Select FusionServer Tools-ServiceCD2.0 Vxxx and press Enter.
The system starts to load ServiceCD 2.0.
After ServiceCD 2.0 is loaded, the ServiceCD 2.0 welcome window is displayed, as
shown in Figure 3-8.

Step 9 Open the RAID configuration window.

Back up data before RAID configuration because the data on hard disks will be lost after
RAID configuration.

Click the RAID icon.

3. Click Advanced.
The advanced options are displayed, as shown in Figure 3-13.

The advanced options include Read Policy, Write Policy, Cache Policy, Strip Size,
Dedicated HotSpare, and Virtual Disk Size.

– When setting Virtual Disk Size, separate multiple virtual disk sizes in MB with commas (,),
for example, 100000,200000.
– Advanced options are available only for the LSI SAS2208 and LSI SAS3108 controller cards
but unavailable for the LSI SAS2308 and LSI SAS3008 controller cards.
– The value of Virtual Disk Size can be max, a digit (for example 100000), or multiple digits
separated by a comma (for example 100000,200000).
4. Set advanced options and click Create.
The dialog box shown in Figure 3-14 is displayed.

Step 11 Configure free space.


1. In the RAID configuration tree, right-click a node under Free Space and choose Add
Configuration from the shortcut menu. See Figure 3-16.

4.1 An Error Occurs When a Software Package Is Being


Decompressed by Using WinRAR
Symptom:

The message The archive is corrupt is displayed when a software package is being
decompressed by using WinRAR, as shown in Figure 4-1.

The WinRAR software of an earlier version is used, which restricts the file capacity during
decompression.

This section describes how to log in to the Virtual Console of a server using the iMana/iBMC

Log in to the Virtual Console of a rack server or an X series high-density server using iMana/
iBMC.

Step 1 Configure a login environment.
1. Connect the network port on a PC to the iMana or iBMC management network port of
the server by using a network cable.
2. Set an IP address for the PC. Ensure that this IP address is on the same network segment
as the IP address for the iMana or iBMC management network port.
For example, set the IP address to 192.168.2.10 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
Step 2 Set properties for the web browser.
1. On the menu bar of Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Internet Options.
The Internet Options dialog box is displayed.
2. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings.
The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box is displayed.

1. Open Internet Explorer, enter http://IP address for the iMana or iBMC management
network port in the address box, and press Enter.
The Certificate Error: Navigation Blocked page is displayed.
2. Click Continue to this website (not recommended).
The login page is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-1 or Figure 5-2.

Step 1 Log in to the MM910 WebUI.
1. Connect the Ethernet port on a PC to a port on a switch module over the local area
network (LAN).
The MM910 management network port is connected to a port on the switch module in
slot 2X or 3X through the midplane by default, and then connected to an external
network through the switch module.
The mapping between switch modules and ports is as follows:
– CX110 and CX91x series switch modules: GE electrical ports
– CX31x series switch modules: 10GE optical ports
NOTE
Run the outportmode command on the command-line interface (CLI) to use the MGMT network
port on the MM910 panel to connect to an external network.
2. Set the IP address and subnet mask or route information for the PC so that the PC can
properly communicate with the MM910.
3. On the menu bar of Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Internet Options.
The Internet Options dialog box is displayed.
NOTE
This task uses Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 as an example.
4. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings.
The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box is displayed.
5. In the Proxy server area, deselect Use a proxy server for your LAN.
6. Click OK.
The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box closes.
7. Click OK.
