Analysis of Factors Related to Contraceptive Use Failure in Early Age Married Women in
Tinondo District, East Kolaka Regency
The early marriage phenomenon is still quite high and can cause complications of
pregnancy and childbirth, so a family planning program is needed. KB failure rates at the age of
early marriage at Tinondo Public Health Center were 22.4%, this is far different from the failure
of family planning in adults, which was 8.2%. This study aims to analyze the factors associated
with the failure of contraceptive use in women marrying early age.
This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional study design. The study was
conducted in September-October 2018. The population was all women who were married at an
early age and used contraception in Tinondo District as many as 84 people and a sample of 69
people were obtained by simple random sampling. Data were processed using chi-square test,
closeness test and logistic regression test.
The results showed the results of chi-square test on knowledge with contraceptive use
failure obtained p value 0.000, the number of children with contraceptive use failure obtained p
value 0.04, information by family planning workers with failure to use contraception obtained p
value of 0.002, husband support with failure of contraceptive use obtained p value of 0.002 and
support of community leaders with failure to use contraception obtained p value of 0.001.
Conclusion there is a relationship of knowledge, number of children, information by
family planning workers, husband's support and support from community leaders with failure to
use contraception. It is recommended for the East Kolaka District Health Office to determine
policies in the use of contraception for women marrying early ages. For the Tinondo Public
Health Center to provide education and counseling routinely and for married women of early age
to increase discipline in using birth control pills and use contraception in the form of an IUD.
