BUS 5133 – Adv.

Marketing Management – Fall 2016

Individual Part of the Group Project – Due September 15

 Everyone will turn in an individual assignment based on the group project. This serves
several purposes:
o This will make sure every group member is working on the group project and
thinking about the entire scope of the case.
o It gives the instructor an additional individual assessment of each student’s effort
and performance.
o Groups should have a stronger basis for developing their analysis and
recommendations since each member will have some information and ideas to
bring to the table.
 Look under Groups for your assigned case. Each individual will turn in a brief synopsis
of their group’s assigned case based on the following outline. It is fine for group
members to do some case discussion and research together (i.e., share research), but
responses to this assignment should be completed individually.
 You will turn in your individual assignment via the Assignment link in Blackboard
(where this assignment is posted) by Thursday, September 15. This individual part is
worth 30 points. (Paper is 100 points; oral presentation is 30 points.) I will then give you
some feedback that can help you work with your group on the group paper and
presentation. Again, your group is encouraged to work together on the case, even as you
are doing this individual part.

Outline for the Individual Assignment

 Address each part directly and concisely, but with some explanation.
 Include a list of resources (at least 3), using APA format for citing and list at end. Be
sure to cite all sources of information included within the paper.
 Try to limit this assignment to about 3-5 double-spaced pages (use complete
sentences and subheadings).

I. Give a brief overview of your group’s company/marketer and their current situation.
a. Describe the basic business, including the mix of products/services being
offered.
b. Include some strong and weak parts of the company/marketer
c. Include some key trends in the industry or marketing environment (external to
the company). * See exhibits 3.3 and 3.5 for ideas/examples.

II. Identify/profile the company/marketer’s primary target markets and how the
company/marketer positions its brand(s) (i.e., what image it wants each brand to have
in the minds of the target market customers).

III. Based on your early findings, identify some key marketing issues facing the
company/marketer and some possible marketing strategies that could be used to
improve success.
