sink and range. The homeowner
had no room for a cookbook, so
she propped it behind the faucet.

2. With only two 30-inch-wide

cabinets and open shelving for
food storage, the pantry system
was cluttered and dysfunctional.
3. The galley layout made it hard
to cook and entertain; guests
stood against the wall or were
shooed out during meal prep.
4. A single light fixture overhead
and a fluorescent tube over the
sink contributed to the dark and
dated look of the space.
