Preliminary Heat Exchanger Sizing: These Calculations Are Provided For Educational Use Only - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

This document provides a preliminary heat exchanger sizing tool that calculates the heat transfer area and utility requirements for shell and tube heat exchangers based on input process and utility stream parameters. The tool outputs the log mean temperature difference, overall heat transfer coefficient, preliminary heat transfer area, number of tubes, shell diameter, and utility flow rate for a given process stream duty of 4.00E+06 BTU/hr involving a process stream boiling from 500°F to 600°F in a countercurrent arrangement with steam as the utility fluid.
