Lesson Plan in Science

Content Standard

The learners demonstrate an understanding of the difference between animal

and plant cells.

Performance Standard

The learners should be able to employ appropriate techniques using the

compound microscope to gather data about very small objects.

Learning Competency .
Differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence or absence of certain
organelles.

Code

S7LT-IId-4

I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, the learners can:

A. Differentiate the animal and Plant Cell;

B. Determine the parts of a plant and animal cell; and
C. Understand the functions of each part of the cell.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Animal and Plant Cell
Reference: TG Science 7
CG Science 7
Materials: laptop, cartolina, activity sheets
III. Procedure
A. Activity:
The teacher will present an illustration showing the different major
social institutions and the students will be asked about the
functions of each to the community. The teacher will connect it to
the topic later on.

B. Abstraction

All living things are made of cells. They are the building blocks of all
living things. The term ‘cell’ was first coined by Robert Hooke in
he 16th century when he was studying different objects
using the newly-invented microscopes. In modern times with
more powerful microscopes, scientists have looked at the
different parts that make up the cells of living things. Plant and animal
cells have a great deal of similarities between them. The smaller
components inside the cells called organelles perform the same
functions in each kind of cell.
C. Application

Based on what they’ve learned from the discussion, the students

will construct a Venn diagram and will identify the parts that are
located in animal cell and plant cell and parts that are present in
both type of cells.

Venn Diagram

D. Evaluation

D.1 After the activity the students will answer the activity sheet
wherein they need to label the parts of the cell and
states its function.

D.2. In a sentence form, cite the differences and similarities

between plant and animal cell. Use the back page of
the activity sheet.

IV. Assignment

The students will make a cell model (plant or animal cell) using improvise
materials.
