Chapter 1

This document provides an introduction to wireless communication systems and FM radio transceivers. It discusses how wireless communication works using radio waves, and defines key concepts like modulation and transmission/reception of signals. The aims are to study the principles of RF transmission, components of FM radio transceivers like amplifiers, and how to realize an FM transceiver system. The FM radio transceiver will be designed and constructed to transmit signals up to 50 feet away without direct line of sight. The thesis will include chapters on the background theory, operation of the transceiver circuit, design calculations, simulation/testing, and conclusions.

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Introduction

Wireless communication of transmission and receiving system used the radio

wave. The use of the radio frequency spectrum is necessary today. The word “radio'
can be defined as the transmission and reception of signal through the space by means
of the electromagnetic waves. There are various types of transceiver in the wireless
communication system, in which the RF transmitter system is commonly used in
public and industrial wireless control systems.

The electrical energy that has escaped into the free space exits in the form of
electromagnetic waves which travel with the velocity of light. Electromagnetic waves
are propagated through space from the transmission antenna to the receiving antenna.
Wireless communication system has two sections, transmitter and receiver. At the
transmitting end, the information to be sent is imposed on a locally generated radio
signal called a carrier. The process of imposing the information signal on the carrier is
called modulation.
Radio is the technology of signaling and communicating using radio waves.
Radio waves are electromagnetic waves of frequency between 30 hertz (Hz) and 300
gigahertz (GHz). They are generated by an electronic device called a transmitter
connected to an antenna which radiates the waves, and received by a radio receiver
connected to another antenna. Radio is very widely used in modern technology, in
radio communication, radar, radio navigation, remote control, remote sensing and
other applications. In radio communication, used in radio and television broadcasting,
cell phones, two-way radios, wireless networking and satellite communication among
numerous other uses, radio waves are used to carry information across space from a
transmitter to a receiver, by modulating the radio signal (impressing an information
signal on the radio wave by varying some aspect of the wave) in the transmitter.

In radar, used to locate and track objects like aircraft, ships, spacecraft and
missiles, a beam of radio waves emitted by a radar transmitter reflects off the target

object, and the reflected waves reveal the object's location. In radio navigation
systems such as GPS and VOR, a mobile receiver receives radio signals from
navigational radio beacons whose position is known, and by precisely measuring the
arrival time of the radio waves the receiver can calculate its position on Earth. In
wireless radio remote control devices like drones, garage door openers, and keyless
entry systems, radio signals transmitted from a controller device control the actions of
a remote device.
1.2. Aim and Objectives

(a) To study the basic principle of RF Radio transmission.

(b) To study the electronic components such as high frequency transistor, RF
power amplifier, SA2003ic, audio amplifier .etc. which are used in FM
Radio transceiver system.
(c) To realize the operation of FM Radio transceiver System.

1.3. Scope of the Research

This intends to optimize one study in control engineering, communication

techniques. This project can be used to control any devices by using FM radio
transceiver. The transmitter can produce a signal for the receiver which is about 50ft
far from it. In this case, the transmitter and receiver must not need to be pointed
directly to each other to effect the operation.

1.4. Implementation FM Radio Transceiver

The following steps are used to construct the FM radio transceiver:

(a) To study all necessary facts of background theory concerning the radio
wave control system.

(b) To Study different FM modulation and demodulation.

(c) Learning the properties of electronics components using data sheets.

(d) Design and construction of FM radio transceiver.

(e) Observing the technique and operation of every part of RF power
